Formula RaceRoom 90 Coming to R3E Next Update

Sector3 Studios have confirmed their latest open wheel car is coming to the sim - rejoice historic racing fans!

Although the FR90 is a 'fantasy' design, it doesn't take much imagination to make the connection between the FR90 and very early 1990's era Formula One machinery - much to the joy of fans of historic Grand Prix racing.

Coming in three distinct flavours - V8, V10 and V12, the FR90 delivers some incredible audio thanks to the efforts for @anthony monteil and Sector3, as well as producing a very raw and entertaining driving experience behind the wheel.. as anyone who watched Grand Prix racing in the early 1990's would undoubtedly expect from this sort of machine.

Although no exact release date has been given for when this new DLC will drop, Sector3 have confirmed it will be made available alongside the upcoming update - expected to drop for the sim as early as next week.

Ferrari introduced the paddles in 1989. They were the only ones using them in 1990. Williams started to use them in 1991, and mclaren followed mid 1992. They became more widespread in 1993 and 1994.

Instant buy for me. My favorite era of F1, no question. We all understandably focus on the amazing sounds of the engines, but I wonder how the handling will be... These cars were not easy to drive at all, if you look at the onboard camera footage from the early 90's.

That said, just for the sounds, I would buy it. Judge for yourself:

Hmmm, but there are many onboard videos from the early 90s with manual gearbox.

1989, Ferrari 1st F1 team with semi-automatic gearbox (paddles)
1991, Williams 2nd f1 team to use semi-automatic gearbox
1992, McLaren started using paddle shifters also

1989 and 1990 only Ferrari had paddles.

In 1991 Williams had them as well, and from 1992 onwards also Benetton, McLaren etc. The last one to change to paddles was Forti Ford in 1995.

They claim it to be in game sound, it would only bute them in rear if that were to be proven a lie.
R3E always had outstanding sound, especially when spectating, although Incannot give you that confirmation I am confident that this will be the case yet again.

Beyond the sounds I am curious about how the differently engined FR90 cars will perform against eachother. Strengths and weaknesses etc.

It would of been pretty cool had they gone down a route of making one car light and nimble, yet underpowered (the V8), based on the Tyrrell 019. The V10 car being based on the Williams or McLaren, a sort of mid range handling and power, and then the V12 with more power but heavier...Buuuut - this will still be a nice addition, so i will buy it.

All we need now are real life skins, cause those paintjobs they put by default - for reasons I can understand - are horrible.

Back in the Race 07 days they got into real trouble with the FOM after they put real life inspired liveries on the initial Formula RaceRoom...

THE SOUND i like the V8 personally. i loved this high Pitched Williams? cars.. but the Ferrari V12 was the Iceberg back then.. well its like watching a good Sexual Content Movie.

72 valve!?!? I don't think we ever saw a 6 valve per cylinder v12 throughout F1 history..
