Not bad for a first attempt, plenty of work yet to do, but at least i'm in the right ballpark.

Top is LAT G, bottom is speed in MPH - Orange line is the target, blue is my in-game attempt.

Seems speeds are very close, but I have a little too much lateral grip which means I carry too much speed through the Follow-Through and into "The Second-to-Last Corner".

Its a pain that its a standing start lap though...

Few tyre tweaks and its a bit closer (colours are flipped this time), wondering how accurate the track is though :roflmao:

Given the non-LS track I'd say any further improvement is mostly academic. :)

Yeah I think given how after the Follow-Through corner and Bentley corner the data becomes offset, I'm thinking the track has some fairly large issues there. In order to match the real data I have to unnecessarily lose a lot of speed at Bentley. Otherwise its pretty close, which I'm very happy with.
 
The scale is pretty much dead right, that's what I'd focus on (no pun intended.) The difference in timing is, as you say, likely to be a track effect, if I were to guess.
 
Not to be pedantic, but "bhp" is specifically the power rating of the engine before any driveline loss. For a wheel-horsepower figure it's "whp" or just "hp" which is nonspecific. :)

I love to see cars that expand grids - nice work. ;)

Its a great help, very easy to use too. I just did as much as I could proportion wise without them, then I try a few different angles and see where I'm going wrong. Will definitely be making use of it in future, for the interior and other projects.

Also, I found a video yesterday showing a stock RS on a dyno (which just verified the numbers I was already running), but what was interesting is I could see the counter-torque as it coasted down after the run.

I mapped the values I could see (-torque vs rpm) and found it was pretty much linear, so could make a trendline to predict the coast torque :) Was lower than I was expecting, (46NM @7000rpm, linear to 0), but it works well in-game.

Good to hear it worked out! I use it at the start of every project, then at the end before detailing just to make sure all the proportions look right. Is a very useful tool if you get used to it on your workflow.

The Focus is looking spot on, good luck working on the interior details in real scale! lol :)
 
And on the plus side, you won't have to spend long making loads of extra skins, as it only came in blue :D

EDIT - looking at those last few pics, I think that the area of the driver's door around the handle is still doing something odd, reflection-wise. All the shots show what I would assume to be a horizontal reflected object bowing downwards around the handle area, like the door/wing is bulging out slightly.

Could you post a pic of it parked parallel to a horizontal barrier?

Why are you wasting your time with this car! Nobody is going to download it! I would easily pay $15 for proper yugo! Now THAT'S where the money is!!!

Those physics plots look really good vs real life data.

Remember 'reality' has millions of variables that AC isn't even considering too.

For instance, on a 225/40 R18 (what the FRS uses iirc) tyres alone can swing weight +/-8kg depending on brand, and then new/worn another +/-8kg in my experience (all round, yes I've weighed my new/old tyres and cross-brands)

That obviously impacts weights and thus f=ma, and wheel inertias, which impacts braking etc.

So get the figures you can get right right, and then if it's close, that's good enough.

To try pull more from real measured data you really need to know a lot more about the car during the testing itself.

Just simple things like driver weight and fuel load in the FRS data will make a big difference, because it's a relatively low powered and light weight car.

What do you mean, and upgrade version? Do you mean like a Step version of this Mk1 that is quicker, or just a whole new project on the Mk3 RS? Either way, no plans.



Yeah I think so too, the Mk1 is very clean but still purposeful. The Mk2 RS is pretty wild, but was sort of a strange contrast to the almost boring standard Mk2 Focus. The Mk3 RS seems very aggressive front and back, but it all looks a little aftermarket - I think the base model looks better, more well resolved design :roflmao:

The RS mk1 worked so well, kinda like a contemporary Evo or other rally inspired road car... since then the STs have been the better resolved cars for styling in my opinion. The details don't stand out too far.

Plus, the Mk.1 is the right size, Escort-sized, as opposed to the new model, which appears to the size of a Granada :O_o:

Exactly. At the time of the Granada, a car that big was an auto-boxed luxury car for dads and grandads, not an aspirational car for young people.
My wife's Fiesta ST is the closest to the mk1 FRS on power to weight, affordability and size (on the outside, inside I'm sure it's a bit smaller in the Fiesta vs the mk1 Focus)

I've no idea why Ford aren't making the Fiesta with an RS version, about 280bhp, 1300kg, throw in some batteries and e-motor on the ST engine, and fill out the torque curve and remove the lag etc, and have a fancy e-diff too.
Without the lag, with flappy paddles, and some super solid traction it'd be a real hoot!
And don't make it look like it crashed into Halfords :D

As always struggling to find time, so didn't get anything close to what I wanted done. That being said I finished up a couple of smaller details, still yet to be properly textured though.

Door handles, reg plates, windscreen wash jets, side indicators and fixed the base of the A-pillar (closed the gaps and fixed the texture).

Oh and made the exhaust have a slight wobble with revs :)
