Yeah I wanted to do a poll as well mark but it appears that option is not available (maybe I am dumb) so if you know how then please tell me, so that is why I went random select from list. And once a race has started like say 1 0f 2 you cant return to the lobby between, only before or after. However if the race's are seperate session's we can so I will do that and call it a Toilet (WC) Break lol.

Can just set up one track and drive it, then if you lose anyone during the race you can add them again to the lobby once the first race has finished and you're back in there.

Yes you can, The only mod's that will stop online play are AI, & track surface mod's, also mod's that alter the track's. Skin mod's sound mod's non essential thing's so to speak that don't interfere with the game mechanic's work fine (Caveat, To Date), I use a sound mod and car skin mod's as well as an LED, HUD, Tyre & camera head tilt mod's online with no issue's, If I use my test file's for AI and track's I cannot! So you should be hunky dori.

Yes you can. Only the AI mods prevent you from playing online. Just backup the original files before you install the mods tho, in case it doesn't work. Ive had it before that some older versions of certain graphic mods also prevent online play. By putting back the original files this problem is solved.

edit2: there has been a version of truelight which also prevented online play, newest version is fine tho.

I once bruised my knee and got air ambulance landing in 53 seconds, along with full military escort to the hospital, where I was guarded by MI3,4, 5, 6 and 6.5, with sniper support in a 15 mile radius of the hospital, locked in a full anti-nuclear suit, in a nuclear proof bunker, 50 miles below ground...

In regards to the AI mods...I run an AI mod for more aggressive AI. Will I need to uninstall that?

Have you tried joining a quickmode race online? Normally the game will kick you out after the loading screen in the garage. If not i guess it will work.. If it doesn't work you will need to uninstall it.

Seemed to race online ok with the game as it is, so I guess its all ok

did you try joining an online game with AI in it ? I think you may get a CTD when race start's (Possibly). But my experience is I have to put the original everything like that back and I have no problem's as some game's refused to run at race start if I had modded AI file's and track file's.
