Those were the days. We used to regularly get 20+ drivers on a Sunday night but the series was unceremoniously dumped one week in favour of GP2, without any (As I recall) discussion with regulars and was dismissed as "its had its day/run its course"
GP2 wasn't well supported then RF2 came out much to everyones excitement, and then much to everyone's disappointment it wasn't very good by which time it had already split the field in half.
I think people just moved on and getting new RFactor drivers is going to be very difficult now with all the other alternatives available.
