rF2 F1 1992 @ Monaco - Sunday 26th June 2011

rFactor 2 Racing Club event
The first GP I ever watched, and I still remember to this day sitting in front of the TV watching this:

[video=dailymotion;xbuu8c]http://www.dailymotion.com/video/xbuu8c_mansell-vs-senna-monaco-grand-prix_auto[/video]

Possibly the greatest 5 laps in F1 history. :)

If you watch race 2 from tonight,up to lap 8? Adam and i were as close for most of it. Same cars, but other ways round!

So much to say,it's nearly 3am as i watch todays F1 at Valencia :-s
Guys chatting during quali and race has been going on for a few weeks and nothing has been done about it. It's in the rules.Simple!
Q1- was a blurr! lol At least i managed to get a few quick laps in.
R1- As Mark crawled off the line, behind him,Mr Zafiu ran into Bozko who then hit Mark and i ran into Mr Zafiu and lost my front wing!
I pitted and came out in P21.
I picked up places as others crashed out or pitted for repairs. I managed to hunt down and pass a few too to evetually finish in P5.
Not a bad result considering where i was on lap 2 lol
Q2- P6 in the 1:19s
R2- Lee was to my right and as we pull away Lee spins into Bozko causing him to spin and make contact with Mark, causing Mark to spin! From my view??? Is was like parting of the sea! lol I drove right through the middle of it all, through turn 1 and in P3 :) I couldn't believe my luck.
End of lap 2 and Wayne spins, although it takes me another lap to see i'm now P2 lol
I was close to Adam from lap 3,i lost the rear a little exiting the last right hander and i lost 2 seconds but i pulled it back and with a back marker or 2 i was right on his gearox!
I thought i had the quicker car through the swimming pool section, through to the start straight, but i doubt i would have been able to make a pass on him. It would haven't taken a mistake from either of us to decide the leader.
End of lap 8,as i exited the last right hander on to the start straight i understeered into the tyre wall and lost a wheel. Race over.
So close :)

All through practise and quali tonight there was debris everywhere, every lap. It comes as no surprise that the race was the same.
Some of us where luckier than others.
Good racing tonight guys ;-)

Tough evening for me with only a few laps of racing..

In the practice sessions my pc crashed two times after returning to the pits. Luckily it didn't happen again.

Q P10, it was difficult to get a clean lap but I managed a 1.19

R1; at the start it was a bit of a chaos with a few cars in front which had a poor start. In the crowd I lost my front wing and had to complete the lap to get to the pits. I went quite alright untill the tunnel. Logically I had to lift to make the turn there so people were closing rapidly on me there. I wanted to let the guy behind me passed, but i guess I also had some minor suspension damage cause at the breaking point the car moved a bit to the left, causing a small collision which brought me to the tires at the end of the chicane. I decided to wait there untill everyone had passed so I could make my way to the pits without getting in the way of someone.
After the repairs there was still a unbalanced car left but at least I could make my laps. After a few laps I spun before the main straight, and because of the leaders coming up behind me I hit the ESC button to get out of the way.

I watched the rest of the race and saw one after another crash and stop with at the end only 10 or so guys making it to the finish

Sadly, I had to go before R2.

Hopefully the next event will be smoother.

Only body to body contact in these cars. A bit shame really, because then I wouldn't manage to drive through Steve when he was overtaking.

happy with quli 1and 2

race 1 was out in the lead and hit a damaged car sat on the track, end of race

race 2 got the lead and just clipped the barrier 3 or 4 laps in and steering was shot couldnt risk
going back to the pits, end of the race

thanks adam and lee

ps deffo a drop in race Etiquette since i joined

What i really start to dislike now is the ones Lee and i were talking about, sitting there after crash to see if we can avoid them, just don't even post their race reviews...

For me that says enough. But i'm making some (movie)clips of this anyway...

Qualified 2nd for first race. Bogged down on start, car wasn't in gear for some reason, and stood on the grid for a sec. Really sorry to the guy behind.
lol for some reason? Don't you have to put the car in gear Mark as the lights go out? I'm only saying because you say 'sorry to the guy behind' there where 3 or 4 of us that got into each other because of it lol

What do you mean by body to body contact only Erik? You mean you can get away with body to body contact?

I think he means our wheels went through each other therefore creating body to body contact. I must admit its the first body to body contact I've ever had with a Norwegian. Was rather hoping my first experience of Norwegian body contact would have been with someone a bit blonder and more female.

LOL nice reply Steve, and after reading all the reply's i think i can say nothing lost that i lost this race. Hope to be there again next race. and guys please settle down on our comments you could have known it would ne mayhem at monaco with a lot of new guys. First saying yea yea iam happy there is a full grid and then after wards moaning about a crash in monaco isnt the way to go. Winning in monaco is just luck and not a matter of going quick.

I agree with you Ferry. Yeah, it was great to have the big grids and some new guys, but it is Monaco. Things happen there that happen no where else. So let's give each other a break and move on. The OZ track is great. Nice and fast and wide.

I was thinking the exact same thing at the time, only you were Berger. I was taking some of the Senna lines though

Guys chatting during quali and race has been going on for a few weeks and nothing has been done about it. It's in the rules.Simple!

The last 2 weeks have been really poor regarding this matter. A large number of official warnings have been sent out regarding it lately. There is no excuse to talk in the race. Sorry's, thank you's, etc. can all be done after the race. Just one message can distract a driver and around Monaco, it's pretty much the end of your race if you make a mistake.

Adam, every time you said backmarker it was probably me. Not an easy track for backmarkers to move over, then trying to limp home 3-wheeled was a challenge in itself.

I understand it isn't an easy track for backmarkers as there are several places you cannot pass at. The first time we met, you did the best you could so I got no issues with that. The second time I was really puzzled why you accelerated away instead of keeping to the right where you already were, before letting me pass in an ever-decreasing gap. Got a bit scary. The final one, you were all over the place with 3 wheels and it was quite dangerous. I had to slam the brakes on to avoid you at Casino as you just started going straight on. I know you wanted to finish, but knowing how narrow monaco is, it would probably of been best to escape out of it and not potentially risk other people's races.

Winning in monaco is just luck and not a matter of going quick.

Indeed. I got my win from Wayne's mistake and driving well within myself so not to make a mistake.

Adam, I drive with mirrors off due to FPS issues. It's not ideal, but I will have to fork out at least £50 for a new GPU. Mirrors should be on in OZ because of less scenery.
Normally, I would keep looking at my minimap from rFDynHUD but because it's Monaco, I couldn't.
Unless you can think of a way so that mirrors only display the track, grass and walls?

Driving around a track without your mirrors turned on during any session on any track with other cars is bad, but doing it on a track like Monaco is highly dangerous for not only yourself but to every single person who drove in that event. It shows a huge lack of respect for those who raced. If you were having FPS issues you should turn your game settings down (especially Shadows and Special Effects). You should close all unnecessary programs. A program called GameBooster is very good for doing this. If it was necessary, you could edit this in your .plr file:

Code:
Rearview Cull="1" // Whether to cull objects in the rearview based on visgroups in the SCN file

If you were still having issues after doing all of the above, perhaps you should think of others and pulled out of the event?
