AC Escort RS1600 @ Silverstone International - Monday 15th February 2021

Assetto Corsa Racing Club event
@Interslice if you ever plan to use the Escort again, I highly recommend Spa.

In general it's great fun to eat the curbs with this car (no way to do so with GT cars), so also Monza or Imola would be great fun with it...

I'll keep them in mind reik. It's a better and more versatile car than i presumed. I was thinking more along the lines of drifting through stowe, than any sort of kerb hoping, for this event!

Lotus 25.... not very large, but defo not a Mini either. ;)

As a MINI owner and driver, I'd love a MINI League if there was. I tried to qualify for the MINI virtual challenge but couldn't get past the free practices, I think that I could learn a lot of running with some of the chaps here

I'll see what i can rustle up omar

No worries mate, I understand that this takes time and I am the first in saying that this is a hobby and as such shouldn't take too much time away from more important tasks. I am still a beginner and will continue the GT3 weekly races and keep an eye on SGP for the occasional diversion :)

We did once a race with MINI's on the track Donington park 1938, organised by Craig Dunkley or @Denis Betty or @Medilloni. I remember it as a lot of fun, although it was my first FWD car race and my result was really bad!

You have to practice for consistency. Should a FWD cars race ever be made, you'll see that I'm able to have equally bad races with both FWD and RWD cars!:laugh::laugh:

Agree with practice for consistency but that was not the only thing. To go really fast with FWD cars you have to do some things different, for example as you have understeer in a RWD car you lift and maybe apply the brake a little to get the nose in the right direction.
With FWD cars if you have enough grip, you can throttle up to eliminate understeer. Lifting in that situation can even be hazardous because the rear will try to overtake the front. Also for FWD the optimal race lines differ from that of the RWD cars.

Tonight's race is therefore very interesting because we have a RWD against a FWD. My prediction is that a FWD (Primera) will win because I think it's the quickest in the hands of a good driver. As for me I have chosen the BMW because it's easier to drive for me and that's what I need at Brands.

Ok mine was just a quip, but it turned out to be useful as the link you sent is very interesting! Thank you! Let's see how the race will end up in terms of RWD vs FWD

It was new to me as well. I couldn't find a way to express in English what I meant in Italian, and I searched for the exact translation. We have an Italian word for it which is "battuta".
In Dutch it is 'kwinkslag' but it isn't often used.
Gosh, these threads are becoming very educational!

Hi folks, since monday night was such a nice drive in the escorts, there will be hopefully a similar experience next week in the porkers.

Unfortunately I registered for the event and there were me and another chap willing to run in the Formula Team. I logged in today to see if anybody had registered but even the other participant wasn't there anymore.
I then retired my registering as well.. :( I think I'll try to use the offline Mini Challenge championship created by someone here on RD, or practice for Donington!
