ACC Endurance Series Round 6 @ Kyalami - Mon 6th March 2023

Assetto Corsa Competizione Racing Club event
Great practice session this eve, short and sweet but very productive with @Trox as a pace car! Thanks my friend! my times were coming down lap after lap, and haven’t fully set the car up yet, the corners and apexes made much more sense after a few laps being towed by the McLaren! In other news… I have a T300RS ordered and on the way! So a little upgrade for me that I think will make the feel of the car better, excited for that! See you all in practice soon.

I only managed to get there for a bit of practice later.
Had to go into an offline practice session replicating the settings of the server to learn the track with no rain.
Found a quick setup with the Porsche and managed to drop into the 42's. Let's see how we get on.
Then I went to the server and dialed a quick setup for the Wet, with a lap in the 51's.
Was dreading the weather a bit, but it's a fun track in the rain!

Has crew chief improved with ACC? Last time I tried it was quite some time ago and there were some weird bugs and compatability issues. Might give it another go soon.

As the weather might be a mixed bag I'd work on a wet setup (at least do some running in the wet and get the tyre pressures right - around 30psi) then make a note of the temperature.

As an example I'd probably have something like this for my setups:

RaceDryTrack25
RaceWetTrack20

Number refers to track temp. That way if the race starts wet but temps are 24 I'll know to take off a few psi.

I always use it on ACC, for about a year or two and have no issues. Had to turn off the spotter on ACC.
For the bit of time I was using both, I noticed that the ACC spotter tells you "clear on the right/left" a bit too early.

For the dry I aim to have them at 27.7.
Is 30 the aim for the wets?

What are you upgrading from Jay?

From the standard Logitech gear driven, so my natural path I thought would be something belt drive that I could afford, that should keep me happy for quite some time until such time I can upgrade to DD, but tbh this new set up will be absolutely fine for me while I gather more experience, I may use my Logi pedals tho until I can get some Fanatec pedals, so my aim is to have the T300 And some Fanatecs. Then take my Mrs out to dinner a few times ! Calm things down hahahaha.

Great choice of upgrade path! I went from g27 to CSL Elite wheel base but the big difference was going CSL pedals with load cell. Braking is so much more precise.

Unfortunately I won't be able to join this one, too. I really like Kyalami but I'll have a social event I can't miss. Most certainly will be back to Suzuka. If in the weekend I have some time, I'll join the practice server for fun. Enjoy the race!

Yea, came from a g27 as well, I didn’t realise I could have kept the shifter to use with the Fanatec gear argh…

G27 was a good wheel to be fair, lasted over a decade for me lol

Im in!

Crew Chief - If anyone is thinking about if to use it or not, the biggest help is the speed it tells you about yellow flags. Bathurst across the top its helps a lot as the game changes to display yellow flags at the marshall posts and tells you at the same time, Crew Chief tells you instantly. Saved me a few times when blue flags were being displayed but a crash was over the crest!

The feedback on car positioning is better than the ingame audio cues and its more immersive as you get more information with names where possible such as Chris is pitting now, Chris ran a 1:35.5 etc. They also give you great feedback on your own performance.

I started 1.5 years ago on my current TMX Pro and it feels great compared to my brothers G27.
I was using a normal chair and mounting on the desk. Better than any pedal or wheel upgrade, I feel like the best path is to get a good cockpit.
I don't have a lot of room to spare in my appartment, so I got the Playseat Challenge that folds up nicely into my spare room/office closet (mostly so the girlfriend doesn't have to look at it!). Best upgrade, as it gives you the confidence and comfort to thrash the wheel around for a few hours.
Next thing for me is probably some stabilizers for the base, so it doesn't move around as much.

Definitely be looking to sort some pedals out later in the year yes, I’ll keep my Logitech and get an extra stand for it as I have a few mates I thrash about with on Forza sometimes and I do like it for the Euro and US Truck sims, which is why I got it initially, more than adequate for that, then I saw streams of ACC and was uh oh I know where this is going lol.
