First of all congrats to Tiens. I was joining some minutes before qualy, because my pc room is under the roof and it was between 35 and 40 degrees. My only practice lap was decent and I was second but I knew that I can do about 2.08,6 and maybe faster when I really put it together.
Qualy was really great I started with about 2.08,7 and put it down to 2.07,5 I am still amazed how I managed this time. It was really a perfect lap to find 1.2 seconds on a track whichbhas just about 4 braking zones. Unfortunately I was quicker by more than 1,5 seconds but the start should be difficult because had a very long first and second gear to be able to hit massive top speeds.
The first start was a bit messy I had a little wiggle and touched another car very slightly which I think caused a collision. Luckily we had a restart and I managed the start well. After that I was going realy save and managing thr gap. On one lap Albert Muller was in front of me getting laped, but he was not keen letting me by and he was hitting the exit of both lesmos, which cost me my whole lead. So I was ready for some action? David was really close but my advantage in top speed was too big and he missed the braking in the first lesmo.
After that it was really booring so I decided to wait a minute so the 2nd car can catch up. I was clearly faster so unforunately no hard battle. Then I decided to go for a do or die lap, because it was so hot and just 2 other cars were left. Inmediately crashed into T1 and my race was over, so I could stop sweating like hell
.
I think next timeI should not practice before a club race. My advantage was too big and I love close racing and overtaking and not winning with a big advantage.
Maybe the club races could be more often on well known car/track combination so everyone has a lot of experience, because some are adapting to new combintions faster than others and I think a lot of people dont have the time to practice new combinations every week.
