Hi Quad,Hi - love my DK setup. I've had it for a bit now and can say it has exceeded my expectations. The motion is great 99% of the time and the effects have made my transducers obsolete.
Anxiously waiting for a new update - the website had said October 2022. Any update on when we can expect an update with new games - Beam.ng in particular - and independent tuning of gear shifts?
The 1% is mostly just certain track situations the motion doesn't follow the track well - typically down a hill and back up, the bottom feels wrong. The first place I experienced it is between Paddock Hill Bend and Hailwood Hill at Brands Hatch. It's a bit better with the last patch but it's still there a bit. I'm not particularly bothered by it because the overall experience is great and can accept that it's not perfect.Hi Quad,
Thanks for the 99%... That's pretty good. lol. Can I ask for the 1%? Curious what you think could be made batter.
Regarding the updates. We just finished a couple of large projects including a new user interface which needed upgrading... Sorry about that but new updates are coming soon, but we did have to pause game integration and add a new UI as the old UI running IMGUI was not serving us well. The new UI is microsoft based, more native to windows, faster on both desktop and mobile. Speed was not an issue before but where we are going we need a clean foundation. ;-)
We also successfully had multiple controller integration, which sets us up for multiple DOF's in the future.
Beam.NG is one of our favorites, sorry MY favorites. We have been using their games for many integrations... and the development of the software is interesting. They start with structural engineering in a way and apply material properties to structures or soft body physics. This is a unique application vs. the typical way of creating a physics rig measured by lines and just cover it with graphical polygons.
What I am curious to know is how the motion will translate through this different physics model, things like chassis flex, tire flex, multi-point tire models, textures etc should all come through differently. It's that 1% ;-)...
So in short, we are looking to launch the new UI this month. It's been in Beta since Nov, 2022 (Discord Group) and then by mid-year more software titles and hoping by end of the year, additional DOFs.... but as a specialized team we can easily be derailed and forced to focus on things that affect everyone in the eco-system, like a new UI fix...
Any other questions, please feel free to give us a call or info@sigmai.co!
Thx.
Thanks for that. This is in iRacing I presume? We can evaluate this weekend. Sometimes is the source signal, sometimes its the limitation of the algorithm of mechanical systems, but it should be rare instances none the less. But appreciate the feedback. The 1% is mostly just certain track situations the motion doesn't follow the track well - typically down a hill and back up, the bottom feels wrong. The other minor issue is having to power cycle the base unit when the system goes to sleep. Otherwise I'm very happy with it.
A note that I hadn't considered before purchasing - I'm really glad I didn't wait for the DK6 with the 6" travel. My triple screens are stationary and would need to be moved farther away to make the necessary clearance for more travel. 2" of travel has proved to be plenty of motion for road racing and even games like DR2.0.
Hoping, early next month.... please ping us if you need an upgrade or if I forget to post here. ;-) We are redoing the profile section as well. Currently using an SQL variant that doesn't work well going forward. So switching to a simpler XML version that is more open-source and allows more configurability.Great work! Peter, I don't want to pressure you, but I have 5 friends coming to test my DK2 for Spring Break. Do you think it will be ready?

Fantastic build. The video linked above really shows the custom touches added to the setup (TR160, DK2+, with NLR motion+, various custom parts/work like the floor pieces and cross member mounting, cable mgmt)...super clean, big $, one of the best setups I have seen in a long time lurking on this forum looking at motion platforms. The other parts of the room look equally well thought out too.
The client works in construction for a long time and is meticulous when it comes to execution. Everything from a proper carbon fiber floor, to the $7 flat head stainless steel bolts holding it down. ;-)Fantastic build. @swarthannes is the chassis builder... welcome to the thread! :-PThe client works in construction for a long time and is meticulous when it comes to execution. Everything from a proper carbon fiber floor, to the $7 flat head stainless steel bolts holding it down. ;-)
