Community Question | Your Steam Racing Sim Play Time

Looking at the hours others spent in sim...

:confused:

And then looking at mine...

:(

For me.
Most favorite racing sims...
RaceRoom - 235 hours.
Assetto Corsa - 160 hours.

Least favorite sim...
RFactor 2 - 10 Hours (It's my least favorite because my wheel no longer works with it.)

Least played sim...
Race 07 (Most of it can be found in R3E, so what's the point?)

Most played game...
Fallout 4 - 333 Hours.

But this is only the Steam games.

It would be cool if we also listed how long it took to accumulate those hours (I started sim racing on Steam in 2016) so we REALLY know how busy you've been :confused:...it took me 4 years to amass 2000 Hours but I'd bet everything that some of you have done the same playtime in a year...

At that point, either you're single or your partner is not very happy with you (my wife is very cool with sim-racing/gaming as she games too, but even she has her limits :roflmao:)

I've been playing GTR2 for the past few weeks (let's say month), though it's a CD version, so Steam can't count my "driving hours"... But let's try to have an idea: I've been testing Group C cars, two 1h15m sessions setting up the car, and a full fuel stint that can last between 50min to 1h:20min, depending on the car...

The cars were, until today:
- Mazda 787B @ Mine;
- 1990 Peugeot 905 @ Magny-Cours (during the fuel stint, the brakes failed after 50 minutes, or so, so I made a second try - 1h20m);
- Jaguar XJR12 @ Donington Park (only managed to complete a full fuel stint without anything failing on the fifth try, after two crashes and two brake failures - the shortest run lasted 30 minutes when I crashed at the Craner Curves);
- Lancia LC2 @ Imola
- Sauber C9 @ Hockenheimring
- Mercedes C11 @ Hockhenheimring
- Joest Porsche 962C @ Nurburgring GP
- Porsche 962CK6 @ Nurburgring GP
- Porsche 962GTI @ Nurburgring GP

Plus the time spent trying to get a good FFB setup, and some extra testing due to changes on engine files...

And this was just in the past month and a half...

In order of most played

Assetto Corsa - 1310 hours
Automobilista - 298 hours
Wreckfest - 246 hours
Dirt Rally 1 - 117 hours
Dirt Rally 2 - 86 hours
WRC7 - 76 hours
Euro Truck Simulator 2 - 70 hours
ACC - 40 hours
AMS2 beta - 20 hours

Left some games out where I've just briefly dabbled, like rFactor 2 and Pcars 2. F1 2018 was probably the worst driving game I bought, 3 hours

Was into WRC7 quite a bit, even when FFB/physics wasn't the best, due to the great stages and lack of new rally titles. Then again, didn't feel WRC8 was improvement enough (mostly same stages, still not great FFB) so refunded

Super hyped for ACC originally, but I guess GT3 driving wasn't my thing after all. Plus the performance wasn't quite where I hope it would be on triple screen. And the VR sucks. Waiting for those GT4 packs

Can't believe I've driven ETS2 that much lol. Not the most exciting concept. Got into hoarding mods for it (able to make the graphics look actually pretty good, with ton of new terrain like Spain and Russia), until it crashed all the time. Never progressed much in the career

Wreckfest... none other like it. Changed quite bit along the way since 2014 when I got it. Not always for the better. End result is not quite the banger sim it could have been, but simmy enough

Automobilista 1, probably my favorite FFB of all time. Prefer it to rF2 due to ease of use and strong default content. Luckily AMS2 has even VR now

No more than 2000 hours across multiple sims, all of that time has been spent trying to have fun, I'd only have more hours if I'd make money back from playing sims.

Used to do lots of RBR, LFS and rF in the older days before steam.

In AC I got over 2K, + AC SDK over 200h, in rF2 rapidly getting closer to 2K. Got some time in AMS, some time in Dirt Rally 1, don't get much time for those, although would like to. Would like to get a go at AMS2, or reinstall RBR, but time is time.
