AC Classic Classic F1 Championship race #3 @ Spa, Tuesday 22th February 2022

Assetto Corsa Racing Club event
What a fun event and great second race, despite some unlucky moments. Did have zero practice so expectations were low. First race, not to mention, not my car, too many mistakes....Then came second race. Had only 6 minutes practice left but I love to drive this car so I came to rhythm pretty fast. Nearly ran stock setup, only softer back spring. Still no specialist in adapting the other stuff in detail. Qualy was ok. Had a perfect start and could get behind the leading Lotus pack. Did push as hard as I could and was glad to keep a two second gap to Axel and could keep in touch with Laurent. Was so fun and intense going to the limit every lap, had no reserves. Unfortunately I had an unexpected spin after 20 minutes going little wide at Blanchimont, touched the green stuff only slightly but the backend snapped away at an instant, what a shame. Maybe should have opened up steering little bit more. After that fight with Ernie was on. Couldnt open a comfort gap so that was intense again. Great stuff. In the last races I saw that you can can power up the engine limiter more than 100 percent. Its not much time you gain I think but it helps, have to try what difference it is in detail. Forgot to tune it done for race so I was afraid to wreck the engine but I lifted throttle every upshift in race in order to give the engine a rest. I guess no prob at 10 percent damage. Engine was ok but apparently consumed more fuel so I saw that its gonna be close for the finish line. Fuel was gone 20 meters to finish line, Ernie and Han could get past but at least I could roll over finish line:roflmao:.
So fun racing with all, thx for organizing and see you next time.

Tonight has been the GP in which I've felt slowest regarding the top guys :( My reference is Axel Moebius, because he's the fastest driver in the Ferraris, and today he's been almost 4 and 2.5 seconds faster than me.
I wonder if part of the difference could be due to setups (1/7 excuses according to Taj :D). I've always struggled to get optimum setups on AC. For the 312/67, I try to reduce oversteer (softening rear spring and antiroll bar), I adjust the last gear to the max speed on track and adapt the pressures. I feel the car comfortable (well, it's a beast anyway haha).
But for the 312T it's worse! I don't know how to reduce a problem: I can't drive the car over the kerbs while turning, even if I don't accelerate anything on the kerb. The car oversteers so much that I can hardly avoid the spin. Is it a problem related to suspension?

Anyway, as in previous races, another fun night. I enjoy driving here with you guys, this community is strong, with these beastly cars. I've finished both races within top 10, a shame in race 1 I was punted at bus stop braking and lost the battle around p7. My level wasn't better than p9-10 anyway, but I had been lucky in the start. Sorry if my rejoin was weird, I didn't expect understeer while rejoining in 1st gear to the straight  I recall a car standing on the returning point, if it was the driver who had punted me, thank you
Yes , that was me Dani. Sorry for the punt, I too had a good start and was tucked in behind you on lap 1. I had a fast incoming Ernie behind me and I think the Lotus was better on the brakes as I could make up time on you in the braking zones. But your braking into bus stop chicane surprised me and I just clipped you as you turned in. I waited and rejoined just about last but had good fun with Colin and Taj for most of the race .
Race 2, another good start but was suffering from understeer and Ernie and Han soon caught me. But two tenth place finishes was all I could have expected.
Congrats to the podiums and to Han for another exciting event.

Thank you very much, Paul. I really appreciate it, that's so weird to see nowadays in simracing. Looking forward to seeing you the next GP, your name sounds familiar to me from Zandvoort. It looks our level is similar :)

That is difficult to answer with a yes and no, just my point of view. Sometimes you get more performance from the engines torque, sometimes it is better to Rev the nuts off it.
And just as Thomas said, you need to apply both in their respective advantages through out a lap.
Sorry that is the best I can do with this, I had mine turned up max, but often short shifted.:)

It is definitely better with the limit raised.
The goal is not to go to all the way on every upshift though, but raising the limit allows you to, for example, stay in 3rd before one corner instead of having to upshift because you've hit the rev limit. It also gives you a bit more room to play with when the rear steps out

I'm also fairly certain it improves engine braking, although you can already go over the rev limit on downshifts anyway.

I unfortunately just missed the start of 60's race, I am sorry for that.

For the 70's race i managed to qualify P4 with a personal best.

The start went not so well, it was very crowded in La Source hairpin, and I got off track and lost a lot of positions. Ended up around P10, but I knew my racepace was quite OK (apart from the 3 fastest people of course :p). So i begun to overtake people, and that went very well. Up until I lost the car quite badly at Blanchimont on the astroturf stuff, luckily damage is set at 10% or else I think I was done. Also found out the grass is like ice, and stormed trough the Bus stop chicane, not in the right way, and I was lucky no one was there at that moment. Ended up with the nose pointing to the barriers. So i had to let the pack go by before returning to the race.

Again hunting down fellow racers, but the gaps were much bigger now. Had a fun race, not the result i wanted haha, and nice overtaking/racing with fellow racers. Also the race was 1 lap to short for me to attack @Dani Martinez(Chechum) .

Thanks @HF2000 for hosting :)

I had a nightmare of a race night , yesterday , got home late so I missed the practice , family call'ed so I had to go to the livingroom, so that was qual out the window too ......

but I was in peace with that as I had prepared days head ;D only to find out after the green flag that I had no aktive controls, so I had to disconnect to CM to sort out controls, back in and joined the track half a minute efter last man, but I got my head down to see if I could get something out of this.

Then I got "mechanical problems" with my shifter, for some reason it started to be inconsistent in taking 5 gear , or maybe it became consistent in not taking it, so that was more or less the dead blow that put me on the canvas and counted me out :O

so now I have to sort out what causing it , as it apparently only AC related as there was no problem in rf2 and ams2 ?!?!

I hope I over the next 14 days get the shifter sorted out , its bit of a mystery to me

Great races yesterday. Before the Championship started, I thought the 70s car is the one I could make some good results. After three races I start thinking that other drivers have a harder fight against the 60s car than me. ;) Looking forward for some good and fair racing against Han. I think we will have a few more "meetings" on the track. It is interresting to see who is in front after all events with maybe a little advantage for me in the 60s, and for you in the 70s.

Damn! i completely forgot about Tuesdays race at Spa. My head has been in the clouds this week and am really sorry i did not make it. I apologise for taking up a space and hate not being reliable. Sorry Han

That can happen, Steve. No problem. Better put the next races in your agenda. Although very intens these events are a lot of fun every time. And you sure don't want to miss LeMans, do you?
