Colin Mcrae's 1998 Subaru is up for auction at Silverstone's. Purchased by a private collector in 2004 and raced frequently since, it has been fully restored for auction.

That is "The Machine" option installed by Hurst Performance on the Rebel which also came back as an even rarer option on the Matador for 1971.

The hood scoop delivers air to the 4-barrel carburetor toping the 390 CID V-8. The scoop also incorporates a driver-facing tachometer.

Not all 1970 Rebel Machines were red-white-and-blue. On colors other than white, the blue hood paint and lower body treatment was swapped for flat black and the R-W-B side stripes deleted:

Rest in peace and thank you for the TV memories from "Happy Days" and "Laverne & Shirley" , Cindy Williams.

My favorite car from my all time favorite movie "American Graffiti" was driven by Williams's screen boyfriend Steve Bolander (played by co-star Ron Howard) who loaned his car to friend Terry "the Toad" for some of the many memorable movie moments.

1958 Chevrolet Impala mild custom as it would have been in '62--slight rake, chrome reverse wheels, deep dish chrome steering wheel with lightening holes, fuzzy dice hanging from the rearview mirror, shaved trim, tasteful paint accents, lightly reworked grille, '59 Cadillac taillights, and--de rigueur for the script--tuck and roll interior.

Under the hood the car was restored by NASCAR crew chief Ray Evernham to also adhere to the script (even though the real screen car had a tri-power 348 CID W-block): 1960 327 Chevy small block CID engine topped by six Stromberg 1-barrel carburetors and backed by a 3-speed floor-shifted manual transmission.

My brother sent me a Phoeniz, AZ Facebook Marketplace link to one of these "rare 'Birds" today.

1977-78 Pontiac Firebird Esprit Sky Bird package.

GM knew 30% of Firebird buyers were female, and a 1976 "Blue Bird" show car received lots of interest. School bus manufacturer Blue Bird objected to the name and "Sky Bird" was chosen for production.

According to my Pontiac Firebird Red Book, the 1977 Sky Bird W50 appearance package was $315 (cloth) or $342 (vinyl) interior and carried two tone paint, color-matched wheels, a light blue Formula steering wheel, Trans Am-style engine turned aluminum dash insets, special decals, and pin striping.

The Sky Bird was followed by the similarly-themed Red Bird at mid-year 1978 and Yellow Bird in 1980.

Production numbers are not available but appear not as high as GM would have hoped. One source estimates 4,000 units for the 1977 Sky Bird, but others surmise that number for all three colors. With 34,000-some 1977 Firebird Esprits made, I doubt more than 10% wore Sky Bird trim.

1963 Watson roadster; 450hp, 4.2L Offy, 2 speed gearbox, solid axles front and rear, disc brakes all around. Driven by Jim Rathmann; qualified 29th, out on lap 99 with magneto failure. Trivia - the '63 Lotus Fords of Graham Hill and Dan Gurney were the last cars to compete in the 500 with carburetors.

Daimler SP250, on its introduction at the 1959 New York Auto Show it was "unofficially declared" the ugliest car there. Perhaps its claim to fame was its engine, designed by a motorcycle engineer inspired by Chrysler's big hemis, this car had a twin carb 2.5L hemi V8 of 145hp, giving it a top speed of around 125mph and 0-60mph just under 9sec (Colin Chapman considered licensing this engine for the Lotus Elan). Less than 3000 were made over five years, and many of those found their way to the police departments of many cities in England, Australia, and New Zealand, where their performance was capable of catching the "cafe racers" of the era. Originally priced US $3700, today they bring up to $75k at auction.

1961 Messerschmitt KR200; produced from 1955-1964, powered by 190cc two stroke engine with 4spd gearbox. To prove the car, in 1955 one with a streamlined single seat body and "slightly modified" engine but otherwise stock ran 24 hrs at the old Hockenheimring; it broke 20 class records, including a 24 hr average speed of 64mph.
