Assetto Corsa Racing Club event
Do you think it could be a good candidate to have it as a second RWD car as a competitor for the MX5 Cup?
I just ran it around Brands using last weeks Multiclass race as a reference. It was 6 seconds quicker than Jason in the Swift and 7 seconds up on Carsten in the Mazda. Then I did Road One, 20 seconds quicker than my Suzuki time:confused:.
Pity as it has potential, it runs a bit loose with stock set up but with time could be a nice drive. Maybe do a Touring car race sometime with the other BTCC/TCR cars if legal (they are regularly used on WSS)??

So an ideal competitor for the Abastarth?

I'll try and make it Han, but I'm at the Autosport Show in Birmingham all day so unsure what time I'll be home. I'll register anyway.

A bit of an interesting story here....................

I'm going to the show with a friend who drives in the real world TCR UK championship in a Seat Cupra. When speaking to him just before Christmas, he said he had always braked using his right foot and felt that this was costing him time as the younger drivers were using left foot techniques. I told him about my rig and that I mostly use the left foot braking. So I invited him over to try my rig and practice some left foot braking.

Interestingly he had just done a test at Brands Hatch Indy circuit so I set up the track and weather temps etc to what he was experiencing in real life.
His best time during the real life test was a 49.8 and using the Cupra TCR mod in AC he started off in the low 50's. After an hour he was matching his real times right foot braking. Then the swap to left foot braking and amazingly he took another 0.7 off his best time, as he got comfortable with it. What was impressive though was his comments on how realistic the sim and rig felt. Obvious no G-forces but he said that the car felt very similar and the track was impressively realistic, so much so he is now looking to buy a rig etc to do some winter practice. So nice feedback from a real racer.

Apparently there will be some SIm racing products at the show so who knows what I might come home with, hopefully better than the Covid I came home from Slovakia with over Christmas!!
The TCR cars are a fantastic mod, react really well to setup changes, just brilliant - raced them a few times.

On a similar note - currently racing in the 750MC championship, many irl racers there.
One round was with the Civic Cup car (the old Civic type r mod) - one of the guys who won the novice class last year irl commented on how realistic it was. Seems AC is still a great 'training ground'.

EDIT: To add Paul, interesting you mention left foot braking, I can't drive a fwd car without it, so much faster/controllable, imo

We had a chat with the guys and gals on the 750MC stand John, they had a couple of nice Radicals on show. Attached are a few images from the day out.

Nope, not jealous, not a bit:laugh:
Hope you had a great day Paul!

Edit: Just a thought... do many of you (in UK) get to race mtgs/events?
Went to quite a few last yr @ Oulton, Croft and Donny - have met a few guys through sim that race irl - would be great to meet some of you guys out and about too:thumbsup: (maybe an idea for a RD thread, other countries too?)

Hi John
A few years back I was getting around to several meetings including Donnington and Oulton Park.

However, living in the East of England my main racing fix is at Snetterton, Brands Hatch and Silverstone. But it would be good to catch up if I venture north and that may happen if I travel with my mate in the TCR UK championship.

In the meantime some more images from the Autosport show.
