Reiza Studios have deployed a major new update to Automobilista 2 - including the addition of the awesome former home of the German Grand Prix - Hockenheim.
  • New update adds numerous fixes and improvements.
  • Hockenheim DLC adds 7 layouts, including historic variants
  • Optimal brake temperature added
Everyone likes the idea of powering past the trees of the old Hockenhiem straights from yesteryear, don't they? I certainly do, and seeing as the German track decided to wipe all trace of the iconic former Grand Prix layout from the face of the Earth, we have Reiza Studios to thank for bringing it back alive again in Automobilista 2!

The DLC was released earlier today, and anyone who owned the base Automobilista 2 game prior to DLC launch had the benefit of receiving this awesome piece of content for free - otherwise new players will need to either purchase as a standalone item or part of the season pass offering.

Of course, the DLC is indeed the headline from today, but Reiza have also packed quite the punch with their new game update - addressing many items within the title whilst adding some further refinements and improves as they continue to develop post V1 release. This is very much the beginning of a development journey, with the studio confirming August 7th is slated as the next release date, with "a lot of new content" - so that should keep us busy in the weeks ahead...

You can check out the full update list and note from the studio below:

Host of the German GP 37 times, the Hockenheimring is one of the tracks with the richest heritage in the world of motorsports. Historically known for its bygone classic layout with long straights through the surrounding forests, the track was reformed for the 2002 German GP, becoming much shorter modern circuit but retaining a high speed, flowing nature perfectly suited for wheel-to-wheel racing with all types of cars.

This pack features 4 distinct versions of this legendary track from 4 different decades - 1977, 1988, 2001 and 2020, along with extra modern layouts (National, Short A & B).

This the first DLC to be released for Automobilista 2, and it is FREE to all current AMS2 owners and for those who purchase AMS2 over the weekend (July 24-25-26 2020) - by July 27th the Hockenheimring Pack will be sold as an independent DLC to AMS2, and also as part of the 2020-2021 Season Pass.

For those who have already purchased the Season Pass, be assured its value will be preserved with the addition of a 6th DLC pack to the five originally included in that package.

Along with the Hockenheimring we are also deploying the first major update post V1 release - similar updates around this time of the month will be a regular fixture for the foreseeable future.

The exception will be in August when we are releasing not one but two two major updates (including a LOT of new content) at the beginning and end of the month.

The next update (scheduled for August 7th) will feature substantial developments to championship mode and introduce portuguese, spanish & french localization.

We remind all users that AMS2 is a long term project that will continue to evolve and expand in a monthly basis for years to come - all fronts of the game will still have major improvements, with a lot of it to make it in before the end of the year. If you want to learn more about what´s incoming make sure to check out our July Development Update next week, where we will expand on these plans including some great content announcements!

For Historics rF2 Build 60 physics chassis tyres and ffb feedback is still better then this Historic both
cars and track terrain ......rf2 Nords is the best terrain in any sim, even Belgium never updated terrain is still better then 95% out there

Only in my opinion as always

Me pretending they will make it better is crock you just simply don't change the CORE feel of different engines otherwise they could all feel like rF or pCars ..which is absurd

Please anyone tell me which versions of which sims totally changed the physical dynamics
from the old versions ....well ?

You can't make a silk purse from a sows ear :p....no offence, I own both and like both ;)

Where can I find this? I can never find any footage or anything from Brazilian Stock Car and I love the cars in game so I've been wanting to watch some races.

On this channel u can watch Stock Car and Copa Truck, but this is not an official channel, today was the first two races of Stock Car season in Goiânia

First two races of Copa Truck in Cascavel

race 1and 2

Several crashes trying to save setups here as well. Very frustrating experience yesterday.

BTW: From time to time I have only 3 of 6 cpu cores working in AMS2. Not sure if it its SteamVR related or AMS2 directly. Quite hard to figure it out and to research for this problem....
Does anybody else has this issue?

I bought this game when it was officially released. I wasn't expecting too much from it due to the controversial/mixed opinions and the missing features. But I was very wrong, I ended up liking this game a lot. I haven't had this much fun with sim racing since a long time ago. Maybe it just resonates with me because I am not that much into the competitive side of online sim racing, and I just enjoy having a great variety of cars/tracks, good immersion and good physics.

Maybe I am still in the honeymoon period, but I can't just stop playing it and it has become my go to sim. It is not perfect, it needs a lot of polishing, some missing features and bug fixing, but it is very enjoyable in its current state.

No one mentioned it, but with the last update now the multi-class racing is a lot more enjoyable because the AI is more consistent when shown the blue flag and getting passed from a faster class.

AMS 2 will become one of the best, probably the second best Sim after rFactor 2 if they improve/fix physics, FFB and the AI
to AMS 1 standards. This will come with time, I'm sure. We have to bear in mind that Reiza is developing this Sim with a
new engine that they still have to get to know, and this takes a lot of trial and error and effort, so we only have to be a bit
patient.

And with the magnificent content they already have and are bringing to the Sim, like Nords, Silverstone, Porsche, 90s touring
cars, and much more, AMS 2 will become a fantastic and very complete Sim for serious sim racers.

Is it because you have not been playing sim in a long time? Because, even though I appreciate AMS2, happy it is in my library, at this point, beside a few exotic combo, AMS2 does not bring anything new that we do not already have in the other sim we already have.
So, please share, what is it that make you have more fun in AMS2 than in a long time ago?

I guess it would be discovering interesting new cars and tracks. Having all that variety + good FFB + nice graphics and modern UI (althought it should be improved) was a big plus for me. I never played AMS1, so that is definitely a factor to consider. I guess I spent too much of the past year just playing ACC, so something different just felt very fun for me. I also have AC, which I love as well and where I have spent hundreds of hours.

Try turning up the boost pressure in those 80s f1 cars and you will find yourself needing to be much more careful with the throttle... You only make 1000+ HP with maxed or near max boost pressure. I did this once not long after the game came out and it is not ****ing easy. Just as difficult as the lotus in AC with maxed out boost pressure.

Edit: Just went in game and drove one of those cars at 90% boost and spun the tires in a straight line in third gear, at over 200km/h. You need to learn to look at the setup, in real life they only ran these cars anywhere near max boost for qualifying. Race HP was closer to 700.

ACtually no.

These cars are seriously misunderstood, they had a LOT of traction.

I am currently working on a major historic mod of turbo F1 cars, and research shows that they did ran as much as 900HP in race trim, and that the cars had so much traction, that you could mash the throttle indeed in almost any gear, as long as you are pointing straight, like you can see here:

I played many racing games, and by far AMS2 is the best and most complete racing simulator currently in my opinion. Very good graphics, content, and physics, although Reiza Studios has a lot to polish, we all know that they will not rest until they fix all the problems. And Im sure that many othes think the same.

I guess it would be discovering interesting new cars and tracks

Yes this is very nice and refreshing, even thought that content has been available in AMS1 and all other mod able sim for a long time, if you just discover it now, it is interesting indeed.
To me, AMS2 has a lot of potential and a very good pedigree, but in its present state, it still has a long way to go to be on the same level as the established top dogs. So when I see post claiming it is already the king of the mountain, I try to understand. I am also afraid that over rating it will only bring disillusion to new comers, not so familiar with Reiza, if their expectations are misinformed.
All that said, I am glad you are having a good time, like Paul says, " SIM racing is awesome." :)

Just fired up ACC for the first time in a while. The FFB is so dead in comparison to AMS2 (though to be fair, I'm using the "Silver Raw 5.9" custom FFB, but even stock was pretty good).

I finally understand the complaints about world movement after trying 1988 Hockenheim with the G58 - had to turn off the seat mover

Can't wait to see how it develops over its lifetime!

It is simulating a car, with wheels and a steering wheel as the other racing sims...if I want something new I would move to anti-gravity space ships with jets and laser weapons...

The main thing about AMS1 and 2 is the exotic content...
