In yet more Assetto Corsa news, Italian giants Ferrari have announced a new Esport series that will include the Ferrari 488 Challenge Evo as exclusive content for participants.
  • Ferrari Hublot Esports Series debuts September.
  • The Ferrari 488 Challenge Evo will be a series exclusive new car.
  • Categories for PRO and AM drivers.
In a special press announcement earlier today, featuring lead Ferrari Formula One driver Charles Leclerc, the iconic Ferrari brand have announced their next official venture into the world of esport racing. The Ferrari Hublot Esport Series is set to debut over the course of the coming months, beginning this September, with pre-entries opening on August 7th for European residents over 18-years of age.

Want to know what Leclerc and co have to say about the new series? Check out the announcement conference below:

What makes this series particularly interesting, aside from the fact it involves one of the most storied names in motorsport, is the fact that the new category has elected to pair up with the original Assetto Corsa simulation, which has opened up the opportunity for the series to bring the Ferrari 488 challenge Evo car into the title - adding a free piece of content available exclusively to drivers who take part in the qualification process.

As the new championship is set to be split between PRO (invitational drivers) and AM (qualified drivers), the 12 fastest drivers in each category to emerge from the four October races will go forward to the finals in November when the overall winner will be decided over three races.

In terms of prizes, Ferrari plan to award the overall champion a place in the Ferrari Driver Academy Hublot Esports team, alongside the reigning F1 Esports Drivers’ Champion, David Tonizza, and established esport star Enzo Bonito - with coaching and advice provided to the drivers during the season from Charles Leclerc.

Assetto Corsa is available now for console and PC.

As a Canadian, I can confirm that I am only interested in polar bear riding.
Get oat.

Seriously: AC netcode is not too good for intercontinental multiplayer. I think that's the main problem. With a ping of 300+ you are dangerous for the other cars any time your connection or the server has a small hiccups. And you don't want to watch a live session streamed with the Ferrari brand and see cars warping around. So instead of winging it and just doing lazy Europe, they could have arranged something for each continent with local servers. Or just use ACC for heaven's sake! AC collision model is also rather "old" when compared to ACC. Never mind the penalty system, the broadcasting etc etc.. Meh.

Glad someone replied I read it and thought the same thing lol
Been the same all my life just want to race I never realised there was a age limit or expiry date :roflmao:
To be at least 18 is dumb to be honest. If my kids would try to participate, I would say to them it's a waste of time & you have more important stuff to do. Younger kids in high school would benefit more from participating & have some dedication on something they love. So they can actually put something relevant in their CV. If they would be younger, I would say, go ahead.

You might get to drive the real car if you won, so you need to be at least 18.

AC still is not that old... I wish we would get a final patch like where they address the curbs fix for example.

It still looks and drives better than any other modding friendly platform.

look at Arma series... the devs final patched it even they had next part already released or in heavy development.

I love it we get those cars still in AC.

and VR is amazing! :p

I do wonder how this competition will work. I *assume* that this will be open to all who register and will involve some kind of time trial to weed out the slower drivers, but what time trial mechanism will be used, since AC has no official timing app?
