Wanted Ascher Push-Pull shifter

Check out DCD Simulation, he makes 3D printed push-pull shifters for pc. I bought one and changed the microswitches and wiring to the same as Fanatec Static Shifters to make it work with PlayStation and it does! I prefer my customized Static Shifter over this though, it’s lighter to use because it doesn’t have magnets.

This is my customized push/pull shifter from DCD Simulation. Normally it uses an USB cable and can only connect to a pc. I make mine work with Fanatec wheelbase and therefore with PlayStation.

push/pull shifter from DCD
Mine was delivered today (Oct 2), ordered Sep 16.

Lost motion is felt when slowly releasing pull,
which occurs neither for push nor rapid releases.

Windows 10 recognized and set it up.
SimHub Controls and events Controller status
lists it as DCD_WRC_Shifter and reports its inputs as B00 and B01.
Included were a stack of spacers, screwed together,
2 shifter paddles and a nice braided micro USB cable.
All screws thread thru 3D-printed polymer to metal nuts,
which are mostly recessed and captured in polymer,
except for 4 nuts holding wheel base flange to shifter body, which protrude:

That wants sorting for my AccuForce
mounted thru a flat aluminum plate,
but I already had gasket material on order
to fix another spacing issue.

A second spacing issue: between the shifter body and clone Q1r lever:

... addressed by bending the lever's tip inward a few mm.

How does it feel compared to the Ascher Racing model? Does the paddle flex? Is there play on the mechanism? Do you think it will be durable?

  • no idea; it feels OK to me, except for flex at paddle ends.
  • yes, particularly with the larger of 2 paddles.
  • yes, but he just released an updated version to eliminate some play
  • no, the micro-USB socket broke off its controller board;
held on by only solder and hot glue; before breaking off,
the micro-USB cable connector stuck straight up with no support.
    • Lowering that board in its 3-D printed housing,
would make room for a "well" to protect the USB connector.
