Anyone waiting for the 3080ti ??

So news,
I want my nephew to enjoy VR and PC Gaming, so I sold my 3080.
I bought a 3070 for him (Gigabyte Gaming OC version), my mom said she'll pitch in half for it. Wish I could cover 100% but, gotta do what ya gotta do. Infant and family expenses and all.
Plus I have another nephew lol...

For me, I picked up a 2060 at the local shop for $400, so not bad to be honest. The rest of the money from the 3080 is going to the bank to wait for the mining dump coming soon (Profitability is dropping every day, miners will dump their cards soon, and they'll stop buying cards, this WILL have an impact on prices, shortage or not).
Now that I've seen how awful the 3080/Ti/3090 prices have become, I'm going to go AMD to replace the card.
The 3090 here in Japan is $3000 USD at retailers. The 3080 is $1800. The 6900XT is $1600. The 6800XT is $1450 and the 6800 is $1150. The 3070 is $1200.

All the comparisons of these cards are all over the place, I have no idea how they compare at the price, but I know I'm not paying 6900XT money + $200 for a 3080. The better RT performance can't be that much.

I was looking at AMD last night. They are also over priced considering they are behind Nvidia performance. They didn't look like an appealing alternative, the only card I could actually buy was the 6900XT and it's a shocking price.
At this point it looks like we'll have to wait until 2024 before we'll be able to buy a new card at MSRP.

I'm still in a cue for the gigabyte gaming OC 3080, at the original MSRP. Just waiting to see if all the old SKUs get dropped now with the new anti mining cards coming. If so my 7 month wait was for nothing and I'll just have to make do with the 2070 super I currently have.

So basically it's barely more powerful than an 3080 and one of his concerns is that this is just a money grab that has been priced higher so NVidia can take the money vs a middle man who scalps the card.

To be fair it is showing similar performance to the 3090 but also similar performance to the 3080. He did mention that the drivers have improved and the 3080 is getting a few percent better than it did at launch.

Quote from the video: "It's a waste of silicone that could have been something else". :roflmao:

"We priced it higher so scalpers can't" is stupid because scalpers absolutely will still scalp this. With the 3080, the manufacturers already tried the "raise the price to $1100 so we become the scalpers and the scalpers won't profit" and all they did was raise their prices to $2000+. The 3080 Ti is going to be $2600/$2700 on Ebay.
I just hope the crypto miners give up on it since the non-FE will be LHR, hopefully it means only gamers are trying to get them.

Since I own an EVGA card, I signed up for their one day of early access for a 3080ti.

I didn't have high hopes of scoring one, and indeed I've felt conflicted over even trying, but I needn't have worried. A big nope! Their site was hammered all morning, and I can't be bothered fighting that crowd just to find that they are out of stock and at best I'm in a 6-9 month queue.

Eh, the 4080 will be 15% faster and cost 33% more, or something.

Same here, as I just got 3080 Hybrid from the queue, it might be another 6 months before my turn for 3080Ti Hybrid. 4080 should be out at that time.
But man, speaking of bad value proposition, it's $1450 vs $910 for 3080. Hope they don't raise price even more as they've done with 3080.

Who is this guy to say what they should charge? It’s called business and maximizing profit.

they'll figure out a way to circumvent the LHR stuff and still buy. I literally can't buy any GPUs at my typical shops bare specialised Matrox cards. As a privateer I can just hope my current old card holds up forever, as I don't think mining will end anytime soon if world politics does not put an end to that shít (we're not in america, let me swear).

The customer, if a business can do everything in their power to maximise profits then customers should be able to do everything in their power to reduce the costs. Including a boycott.

The real issue for the customers here is they have almost no option but to go for Nvidia. There no competition when it comes to performance so NVidia can charge what they like.

For most of the people on DR, they want to get a new video card to play a game. If a company wants to charge a lot of money for hardware to play a game its hard to fault them. Especially if there are plenty of people willing to pay the premium. This is marketing 101. Look at all the people that bought the 3090. For most of us, we can decide to just not play the game or in my case, play it at a lower detail setting.

I place like 80% of the blame with the consumer when it comes to just about anything. We know we're adding to problems with our purchases yet we can't help ourselves.

I'd like to say I'm not feeding this, but that's easy to say when you aren't itching to buy. As soon as the killer VR headset comes out that pushes all my buttons, I'll probably anti up. But it looks like it may be 2022 or 2023 before that happens.

Oups! Hello there!
