I have done more racing in this track now and I´m getting more and more excited how great work you have done with this, feels so much more right than the other version of the track! Just a little bit that "dryness" and details here and there for the trackside hills + those brown-yellowish sand/stone areas added where they are missing and this would be just so BRILLIANT! And perhaps a bit more variations to the bushes maybe? I would be happy to make a donation then if possible? :)

Then there´s Kemora and Botniaring missing still, wink wink ;) :D

Definitely good points here  What comes to donations lets point out that I'm never going to ask for it, I'm never going to add paypal link to track download page but if you still want to do it it's ok to me and you can send me pm for paypal link. After all it's your money and you can use it how you want but I'm not asking for it.

Botniaring would be nice but no plans for any other tracks at the moment. Plan A after Ahvenisto is to tweak Alastaro's textures and include 3D grass.

Jaasu updated Ahvenisto Race Circuit with a new update entry:

Fixes

  • Added billboard before T1
  • Changed Assetto Corsa billboards to real ones
  • Fixed overbright bushes
  • Fixed key_not_found_errors for ai_hints.ini and cameras_0.ini files
  • Fixed some guardrails texture
  • Fixed pit guy standing inside pit building
  • Gap between guardrails is now transparent
  • Tweaked 3D grass and ground textures

A big step up visually. I'd still like to see some more color variation in ground under the trees and some random race related stuff around the track to bring atmosphere.

Also the AI is slowing down in some corners making overtaking far too easy, I think some ai hints could help.

But it's definitely a keeper already. Thanks for sharing and keep up the good work!

Probably something like dark spots under trees would also make it, but I'll test thing or two.

What comes to AI, did these slow downs by any chance happen in T1 entry, pit exit or bridge? I have ai danger hint in those places to make them avoid or hopefully avoid barrier. Btw, what car did you use?

And these would be like what? Watching Ahvenisto 50v king of the ring video there isn't much stuff around, only some billboard facing tv cameras.

Also what comes to add something random stuff around the track there is one. Probably can't say eastern egg but something not usually seen on a race track, maybe somebody has seen it :whistling:

@Jaasu

Car was Porsche GT3 Cup, I'll check the track map to oearn the corner names so I can tell exactly what corners. Though AI strenght was only 92 +/-1 in content manager, so maybe the slowing down was part of that.

Hehe I knew that random stuff wasn't very descriptive, but tracks from Darren Blythe, Fat-Alfie and Lilski for example have all kind of objects around the track (cars, people, flag poles, signs etc.). But this is not a game breaker, just something that, when done well, adds a lot to the overall atmosphere.

I’ve been thinking flags like these to pit area https://s3.envato.com/files/134290000/Set of flag banner stand.jpg Overall idea what I have had regarding track side objects is that if it isn’t on real track daily basis or during big races it’s probably not needed. However if we take this precisely there is missing building and tents in pit area. Do we need Hämeenlinna branded flags http://www.hameenlinnabrandi.fi/

Something what it does need and I likely add is people to that hill near pit, after all that’s official area for spectators during events.

Oh yeah absolutely no imaginary stuff. But right now it's like at trackdays, I'd like it to be more like at Rata-SM day. But like I said it's no biggie.

Oh and yeah, I would definitely like to see Hämeenlinna flags if they are there for real. :D

After watching the track map I realized that the AI is slowing down in pretty much every corner going uphill, but that happens on Kunos tracks aswell. Though the ai lines made by Fabian Biehne and Lilski (at least) doesn't seem to have that. But remembering the discussions it can be tricky to get the AI to go well in some corners.

I did some more racing/driving with mx5 cup and Abarth 500 AC, AI set higher than with 911 cup I mentioned earlier, and the only place where I could overtake the AI really easy was the corner right before the bridge tunnel. But I think it was because i can take that corner much tighter than the AI line is set. 911 Cup slowing down yesterday was probably more of because the AI was set so slow.

Also I wathced some videos of Rata-SM 2016 and you're right, apart from the pit area, track surroundings are quite empty so forget that random stuff I suggested.

Next time take Tatuus formula, add 9 AI drivers 100% strength, 10 or more laps and start from last position and good luck

Very fun track. I noticed the 3 sector times don't add up to the actual lap time. With the couple slow cars I've driven, its about 13 seconds missing.

Also as mentioned, the one camera angle is behind a tree.

Yeah something wrong with sectors. Crewchief gives finish line info on top of the uphill after the tunnel. And the info is about last lap time, (eli siis kun rataa on ajettu jo 2/3 maalilinjan jälkeen se kertoo sen edellisen kierrosajan vasta sillon).

Great fun to drive, looks fine to me.
But since this update I notice a very short appearance of a 'wrong way' sign when passing under the bridge. It is only short and it does not even show each lap. I don't remember having seen it in the previous version though. Any thoughts ?

I think it only appears when you drive on right side when going over or under the bridge but why it happens I'm not sure, something to do with AI line.

Yep, just found that out myself. Driving on the right side over or under the bridge triggers it. No problem though.
I do enjoy the track ... ;)

Well done mate! The caution sign I get as well, not a big deal just the track sensor is close there. Try this after a few pints in the Ford Escort MK1 it's a blast!!

Jaasu updated Ahvenisto Race Circuit with a new update entry:

Fixes

  • Changed most of tyre barriers texture to painted blue and white
  • Fixed location of corner names
  • Moved first sector to first corner

NOTE: Starting from the pit, you have to drive one complete lap before lap times are counted. This is done to prevent overly fast laptimes started from the pit. Hotlap mode works normally.
This may cause issues with already driven lap times because first sector is in different position. This should be fixed by deleting old lap time and...
