There's definitely difference in handling, though.
If there is then it's lost on me. They all feel the same to me, the only difference in "feel" coming from my position in the cockpit between cars.

And technically the 2015 and 2016 cars are pretty much the same, right? Like if I have a setup from a 2015 car it should work about the same for the 2016?

All the tracks are on.I believe so, yes. If you check the tech specs, the vast majority of DTM parts are standardised so any difference that is perceived in-game is very likely a placebo effect.

I drove few laps and layout of the track is difficult no matter the car
If I remember correctly, at least in my hands, Audi was good over kerbs, BMW power and merc handling...
