First. if you want copies of the pictures I have saved on Sauber, Lotus, Williams, Sahara Force India and Red Bull's 2015's wheels, PM or write me back and I'll send them to you!
Second, any questions that I write in this long text. I will underline, so you can easier answer, if you like to do that. Thanks.
I wanted to say that something could and should be done for getting the mod more realistic, quite easy. SFI does not use a LCD display this year, even as the mod makes the team use the generic wheel. They tested a white one (with an LCD-Display) at Austin 2014 but are still using 2014's 6D-LED Wheel. I tried to use it, but as SFI is using the MRC chassis, in your mod, it as always with MRC chassis', stuck in the metal of the car. Same happens to Williams when I tried to change to the correct wheel. If you could switch out the generic wheel for SFI to the old 2014, this would be as it is in reality. It's easy, the only problem is making sure it doesn't stick into the metal of the chassis. But I'm sure you can manage that! I can now choose to use the generic wheel you have with your mod to SFI, or add the real one they are using from 2014 until the present day. Just copy it from the original game folder, but then I have to copy the chassis too and use their 2014 nose. Then I would have to find a person who has done SFI livery for 2015 on the 2014 chassis for SFI, if it exists, or come to terms with using the old 2014 SFI livery to get the right wheel.
If you could just position the wheel nearer the driver perhaps it wouldn't stick into the metal? (It also seems like the driver sits in the middle of the cockpit, not resting his back at the seat, as one sits in a chair). I don't know if this has anything to do with the problem, seems far fetched. Then we have the problem with Williams. They use the same wheel type as RB did 2014, but they have abandoned the LED-6D on the cockpit, and put in a bigger LCD-8D version. This I understand is very challenging to do something about and I don't know if its best to use the generic wheel as you do, or give them the "RB10" wheel without REV indicator. (you could put in the virtual rev indicator at the right on the screen that you always see when you are outside of the cockpit so the lack of a rev and gear indicator wouldn't be a problem. But I don't know what is best). I also think that if we should continue to use the generic wheel for Williams, then we should make it possible to add the modded generic one that's one this site. It simply says under the LCD, "Williams racing team", but when I tried to use that wheel, the same problem appeared as when I tried to use the 2014, SFI wheel. it stuck into the metal of the chassis of the car. The "real - 'bat' " wheel Williams use also sticks into the metal sadly.
RB has chosen to have a wheel that's close to the standard generic from 2014 now, but
they have an infiniti logo on top of the wheel, perhaps this could be fixed? Not too much hassle as you have made a red mark on McL's wheel, for example? They also have their special blue and yellow buttons on special places and not so much the small ones one the sides, but this is another matter. Lotus' wheel is the one that would be EASIEST to make right, as it looks exactly like the generic 2014 wheel, besides they having their LTS logo under the LCD-8D display! Otherwise it looks almost exactly like the generic wheel. If you look at the modded 2014 version of Lotus wheel 1.1 (found on this site) you see the logo in the middle, just to copy that and put under the generic wheel would be very realistic, perhaps if you had the time you could also go through the buttons to make sure that they are the right colours, but anyway.. It has a black shine to it though, like latex, not so important though. Sauber has been the model for the generic wheel so they are very nice to deal with in terms of reality factor. Only thing that should be added are the Sauber race team logo on the top of the wheel, and either a gray or black tone on the whole wheel as they seem to have two different ones. I have no clue what Manor is using! I have searched for hours without results, I guess it's the same as 2014 as they have other priorities and Bernie is a mad, vicious cat after Australia, directed, at poor Manor and their chiefs. A mod was made for a Marussia wheel 2014 but I can't find it now
.
The other teams like FE, STR, MRC, & SAU, modded wheels that can be downloaded on this site, I use, until I find a better mod-wheels than the pretty good ones for 2014. I inserted them into the game to have some diversity and more fun, real looking wheels. as it's very boring to play a game where almost all wheels, aka cars, look the same. You feel that it's pretty dull to play as it looks like that you are sitting in the same car, esp, if it's mrc or mcl 2014 as they look like each other pretty much. This reference is not so good in 2015 when McL changed their car with the orange/red stripe and silve/ black though ^^ but the principal is the same, the MOST important thing when sitting in cockpit or in T-cam is a correct wheel and a correct car.
Everything can't be done but here you have a few ideas on what can be done if one has the time and motivation, and something's are easy, SFI, LTS, SAU. While others are near impossible to perfect, WILL For ex. But you would be a god if you where able to make the real "Bat" wheel with a modern LCD screen on the cockpit behind the wheel! I'm currently playing Williams as I played the 2014 season and begun with Lotus and later got contract with SFI, and Will for a second year. Now it's in reality year one again but I pretend it's year two and it's just continuing (as I installed your mod for my "2nd season"). it's frustrating that I managed to fix, the correct wheel for WILL 2014 and when I start playing them with the 2015 mod I get the generic wheel, haha ^^ . My "hate" generic-wheel over everything in the game as I see it everywhere. But I understand that it is the hardest team to do right by.
I would love to know how to get the REV counter when you sit inside the cockpit, so I can at least choose myself to use the bat/bird wheel for Williams, Need to be able to see my gear and my revs, but I don't know how to without messing with the cameras. Can I just edit a line in a document or something?
Thanks for your time, I love your work here. Great that we worked out our "issue" yesterday.
