2010 GT1 World Championship

Are they expecting a lot of visitors? I always have the impression that nobody visits the algarve circuit for some reason.

This would be my reply to you on Friday, but when I try to do it RD was down.

You know for most people, mainly around here, the first sport is Football and the ones that follow motor racing most of them only know, see or like to talk is F1 or WRC.

Then even the motor racing fans, most of them like write much in the internet about it, but they prefer to stay at home and watch on Tv, go to the beach or something else.

In here, you only see a full house, when F1 uses to come to Estoril, in Portugal Rally or in the MotoGP races.

Algarve is in the south, a bit far for most of people, a tourist place but tourist’s came mainly for the beaches.

So even is this excellent program, I don’t expect a lot of people, hope I’m wrong, but also don’t forget that the main grand stand in Algarve is very big, about 5 min walk from a side to side, to full it you need a lot of people and most of them are in the top floor where you can see almost the entire track and on the TV images most of times you only see the first floor.

But I have been watching several GT1 races and most of them have very empty grand stands, even in Silverstone, in a motorsport country, like you can see here:

Great weekend with this fantastic cars, F1 is great, another level of course, but I just love these GT cars, only downside was that for the Portuguese drivers, Lamy and Ramos, things don’t go very well, but races are just like that.

Video for tomorrow.

How much attendance at the end Sergio?

By the information at the circuit site there were 24.000 during the weekend, not bad for what I expect.

I think Portugal has a lot of motorsports fans, at least is perceived here that portuguese know a lot about cars.

I think most of them only know a lot about motorsport behind a keyboard and mostly about F1, in other kind of circuit races you see more people in the paddock area them in the stands.

Next race of Fia Gt1 will be there in Spain, new Navarra Circuit, hope you enjoy it, great cars!

I plan to go as it's the closest track from my city (still 4 hours drive), so I will try to be there :)

Somebody should build a track on north-western Iberia, there is a lot of population there that lives too far from a racetrack :p

Cya!.

Yes or even in Orense province, or León, is a 2 hour drive from Vigo and La Coruña, 2 hours from Porto, 2 hours from Asturias... very doable.

But only Porto street WTCC race in the area though.

For most of you that surely don't know the new Navarra - Los Arcos circuit in the Navarra state (you probably know the state capital called Pamplona), north eastern Spain, this video can introduce it to you in the way we like, virtually onboard.
