WTCR 2021 Car Pack is Coming to RaceRoom

A car pack based on the 2021 WTCR season, including a new car and real-world liveries, is coming to RaceRoom soon.

Fans of wheel-to-wheel racing in tin top cars will be getting some new content soon for RaceRoom Racing Experience. A new season of the WTCR cars is coming to the sim.

Along with all of the 2021 liveries, a new car in the Hyundai Elantra N TCR will be added, plus updates to the Audi RS3 LMS TCR.

The TCR cars rank among the most exciting and well-loved cars in RaceRoom, and have developed a following thanks to the close racing action and unique handling characteristics of the cars. While most of the sim racing world revolves around rear wheel drive vehicles with huge horsepower values, WTCR instead favours front wheel drive layouts and relatively conservative power values.

Nothing has yet been confirmed as far as the date for release, but timelines between announcement and release are typically short in RaceRoom.

Will you drive the new WTCR pack? Have you driven previous editions of the WTCR cars in RaceRoom? Let us know on Twitter at @RaceDepartment or in the comments below.

I'm assuming the existing 3d assets could be reused with any update? People rip all sorts into AC.

i dont mind the graphics. I do hope they increase performance and remove the god awful online drm. The only reason to play with AI is if you are not connected to the net.

Just sank 65 EUR into the full content pack the other day. Pleased with it so far, as I mostly race AI and do hotlaps. Might dip into this too, somewhere down the line.

Maybe if the devs could figure out a way to make one-car hotlaps load faster than 30 seconds off SSD...

I'm sorry, somehow I ended up on the bi7ching and moaning thread yet again. My bad.
But since I'm here I'd like to thank R3E for the coming update to the WTCR series and especially the N series Elantra which btw irl is a kick ass ball of fun to drive.
Also thank you for the Ferrari licencing that brought the 488 evo to the DTM series for 2021.
I'm sure updates to the current platform will arrive in due time, either as a massive update or an entirely new sim.

Ok will tell you frankly, i like tcr on r3e a lot, most fail wgen i get bad framrates! Even testing single car on track, please change your old dx9 team. Btw earlier it went smoothly! Wtf i’m not noob i know my hardware, i know all tweaks those were suggested on youtube they worked for few times , i know it is somwhere soft pissing on me, but tell me ladies and gentelmens, how the hell TCR cars those are superb with my SC2pro , i can not play of dx9 bullshit, german guys are not stupid but they lost their place again… iR - americans took my money, no hassle just pure adrenalin apart some idiots :) R3E please let make my dreams come true, update graphic engine, and i will buy all TCr cars, they are the best out of this worls! iR player saying this to you;)
What does iR mean..? Nevermind, I think I got it, thanks.

I fear it's basically a skinpack with one new car, i'll test the new car against it's elder model before i decide wether to buy just the car.

From one year to another it's always the same packs...This game has no evolution as frozen in time, its hopeless. However I will try, maybe buy then I will leave because there is no point in investing in this game sry
LOL. Have you even tried comparing the cars before and after they get physics overhauls? Raceroom is one of the very few sims that gradually applies their current handling standard across the entire board of available cars. It actually makes more sense to buy a Raceroom car instead of iRacing or rFactor, because you have a confidence that it will remain updated, curated and BOPed along the way.

I understand that graphics are outdated, but I didn't realize you drive graphics in simracing. If you're after good racing and not glorified virtual racetrack tourism, you shouldn't care much. Sometimes I think simracing crowd is just as superficial as your average Forza Horizon player, chasing after flashy appearances instead of substance.

It looks the same as in 2018 when they first sold us these same cars.
They only sell you a car once. After that, you only pay pennies for livieries, even if it's the same car in a different class. If you buy an entire season pack, you get a discount on top of that as well. I paid six bucks for DTM 2021 pack, becuase I already had all the cars except the new ones, so it isn't that much at all for two new cars and an entire set of season liveries for the rest. Same will apply to WTCR 2021.

I don't understand the criticism of R3E financing model when you get so much for so little, if you know your way around it, all while people pay absurd amounts for their fancy rigs to play iRansom.

That is just not true for the WTCR packs. Last year it cost 40% of the full retail price to buy the "new" Audi (just a re-skin of the old one) even if you owned the previous year's car. And even the new cars are not worth it since the differences in the physics between the cars is miniscule at best.

I didn't talk about graphics specifically Thx. But since you're talking about it, a little reminder for you
Dx9, PlayStation 3 graphics (openwheel tires are horrible), no rain, no night, no dynamic weather, unbalanced categories type touring, empty multiplayer, outdated interface, game mode from the 2000s, no 24h endurance etc... But I play it and I still like it for physics, these unusual tracks, DTM, innovative economic system with the possibility of try the cars.
Criticism is part of the game and I answer because I still like this game.

Raceroom performance went down with introduction of the "new " FFB (wich i find not so great after all in my honest opinion). A sim that runs on on(1) core in 2022 isn't it.Was great before ,you could use otterhud ,time multipler large grids everything set to "high" in gfx still steady solid framerates.

F1 is all about the car, always has been. Max has luck with a good car, just lile Ferrari has luck with a good car. Mercedes screwed up, like Ferrari did last year. Its not about the drivers, its all about the fastest car. All drivers know how to race a car

My initial reaction was similar but now I think it's just as informative as it was before. It's just different.

I can sort of see where people are coming from with the car packs but I guess you need to also consider people who've never bought a pack and will probably just go for the current year's one. For 2020 I just bought the Clio so I could race against the 2020 cars and will probably Just buy one 2021 car again rather than the whole lot.

I would like to see a proper period pack like the Group 5 stuff. I'd throw money at Can-Am or similar. I guess AC does this but the mod quality isn't up to full studio levels for the most part.

Wouldn't the whole grid finish in pairs of 2 for each team then if that is true?

Despite all the discussions about graphics, I mean it's looking not so bad in 4k when everything is maxed out and the WTCR cars are definitely the better ones.

But I must agree with many others that we really need some improvement , especially for weather,
that's what I am missing most in RRRE.

Nevertheless, I have just spend few bucks and tried out the new Hyundai Elantra and it's great fun driving it.

I have just placed a first look video of it in the media section
