Rennsport Steam Page Goes Live, No Launch Date Yet

A month after going to Open Beta, Rennsport has launched its Steam page. When the sim will exit its current Epic Games-only status is not known yet, however.

Rennsport finally made the jump to Open Beta in July 2024 after countless memes about key drops had been created by the sim racing community along the way. What did not change with this transition was the platform the sim is currently available on - it can still only be downloaded and played via the Epic Games Launcher.

With most other titles being available on Steam, this has prevented some sim racers from giving Rennsport a try in its Open Beta form. Prior to the Open Beta update, however, the third Radio Check episode published by the sim's developers already talked about making Rennsport available on Steam as well.

It would seem that this is not too far off anymore. The Rennsport Steam page has gone live, but it does not include a launch date yet - only the often-seen "Coming soon". Players can wishlist the game via the page already, however.

The content included is also listed, and it comes as no surprise that it is the same cars and tracks - including the Founder's Pack DLCs - that can be found in the Epic version. Anything else would have honestly surprised us anyway, as the compatibility between the Epic and Steam versions is an absolute must, of course.

Are you going to give Rennsport a try once it hits Steam? Let us know on Twitter @OverTake_gg or in the comments below!

Sorry but whats the sense of this game?

Its like ACC, even same comic-candy graphics engine, but with less content, worse FFB and physics. And no night- or rain-racing?

Kimi would ask: FOR WHAT?
The general consensus is that there isn't any.

Its a misguided and poorly executed attempt to ride the coattails of a market that doesn't exist.

They should go work for disney.

Proper average racer here, not ever going to be a racing god, find RRRE, AMS2 and AC (modded to hell) more than adequate...

And I got a beta key. I tried it, I came back to it, and the best (and indeed worst) I can say for it is that it's totally unremarkable.

Maybe there's an amazing online community about to run with it, or eSports are paying the big bucks, but as a casual gamer, for my time I can go race far more interesting stuff, and if I want pure GT3, then there's ACC which has more polish than an Edwardian library.

Will I buy it to add to the collection, only if it hits bargain bins, and even then, possibly not - it's just average at best (bit like my driving!).

glad its coming on steam i can uninstall that crap epic store.

but

Rennsport brings nothing significant enough to the table for me to warrant buying any part of its paid offereing, its VR implimentation which given its UE based will never be fixed or useful, like ACC's, but then no immersion offering of at least Triples or TrackIr so for rig players its just.. meh....

AC (VR Triples TrackIR)
ACC (VR Triples TrackIR)
RF2 (VR Triples TrackIR)
R3E (VR Triples TrackIR) << and this one for free as well..
AMS2 (VR Triples TrackIR)
PC2 (VR Triples TrackIR)
KartKraft (VR Triples TrackIR)
BeamNG (VR Triples TrackIR) -- i mean FFS even BeamNG has triples and trackir guys..

Hoping the devs read this and see the pattern that takes a game from being a toy into a useful and fun product

Realistically, I have zero intentions of getting the game, primarily because they've gone into an already flooded market of GT3 and the standard fare of tracks.

I just really hope and pray that future dev companies start going towards a more focused effort in their title. Harping back here to GPL, GTR and GTR2, where they picked one year of racing, or one formula of racing. I'm 100% certain that a Reiza or KW studios could produce a fantastic racing title if only they picked anything, just something that's not Jack of all trades, master of none. Otherwise you end up with a bunch of series and cars that are just midi.

I long for the day that a Group 5 title gets released OR a Group C title with historic tracks, liveries and accurate physics. Bringing it up to date further, a Super V8 title with input from teams on physics and potentially even telemetry. Until then it seems we're stuck with this, trying to please all efforts, which like I said ends up just midi....

I was skeptical at first but now I think Rennsport might actually be a great game at some point.
  1. Based on the sim which has the best feeling - RF2.
  2. It's still in development stage and is rapidly changing/improving. Devs are not afraid of changing things
  3. It's focused on competition which should give us very good multiplayer experience.

It seems to focus on GT(n), which I find utterly boring.
I love AC1 because I can drive grandpa's old stick shift
rust bucket and heel-toe. Badly.

Tbh, they could do GT but how about Historic GT content? Surely they'd have an easier time speaking to car owners, getting relevant data, sound recordings etc etc. But no... Let's do what everyone else is doing. We will really stand out from the crowd that way :roflmao:

Interesting how this thread picked up, once again, a desire within the SIM community for a new SIM for those of us interested in historic racing. I enjoy GT3, and especially GT4 (look at the grid sizes worldwide, its hugely popular, someone update your GT4 cars please!) but the one thing that makes AC without peers for me is all the wonderful vintage racing content.
Content mods like AC Legends, TC Legends, TA Legends, the RSS GT Legends cars, DRM racers, on and on, are so much enjoyable content. The whole joy of driving associated with the analog driving experiences coupled with the huge interest in vintage racing globally should be an easy trend to spot for the companies making SIM racing titles. Please, AC EVO, please, alloy the great content of historic race cars to be accessible in your new SIM. Bring them out as DLC, or allow good mods that play by your rules.
For that matter, someone out there who wants to score a huge following make a racing SIM dedicated to some of the great cars and eras in motorsports. Bring the F1 and sports cars of the past that competed in epic races to life in great detail, maybe even with an offline career spanning some of the greatest years in F1, or IMSA, or DRM, DTM, Trans Am, Can AM, etc, etc, too many potential global series to list.
The popularity of the beautiful and famous historic race cars is undeniable, bringing those cars and series back to life would make an epic racing SIM that would be popular worldwide with many age groups. It just seems like a total no-brainer. Yes, GT3 cars are interesting and fun, yet for now, we have enough of them. Let the Cosworth F1 V8s scream, the Corvette Gran Sport V8's thunder, and the Ferrari 250 V12 's sing - all in the heat of competition!
