Rennsport Open Beta Begins July 10, Nordschleife and VR Support Hinted

After a wait of well over a year, Rennsport will finally go into open beta within the next week, and virtual reality users can have reason to be intrigued as support seems to be hinted at.

The infamously closed beta of Rennsport has for the longest time left a sour taste on the tongues of sim racers, with only a select few getting keys to access it. The key drops have picked up steam over the last few months, but they will not be needed anymore as Rennsport finally confirmed when any and all players can get stuck in on the platform.

In a post to their social media channels, the Rennsport team have confirmed that from July 10, players can access the beta for free from the Epic Games Store.

But that is not all, as there are some other major details to touch upon - one from the video itself and one from a reply on Twitter.

Nordschleife In Rennsport?

First and foremost, the track list in Rennsport so far has consisted of Spa-Francorchamps, Hockenheim, Nürburgring GP, Monza, the Goodwood Hillclimb, Road Atlanta, the Daytona Road Course, Fuji Speedway, the fictional Orchard Road street track and the 8ETA figure-of-8 joke track.

But we seem to have hints of a major addition arriving with the open beta in patch 1.9.

In a few frames of the trailer, there looks to be what is unmistakably parts of the Nordschleife. The 26-kilometre circuit is of course a huge fan favourite, and the track arriving in Assetto Corsa Competizione in April drew a huge amount of players back to the title. Perhaps the Nordschleife arriving in Rennsport in time for the open beta may tempt a lot of people into giving it a chance.

But if the Nordschleife being added to Rennsport does not sway you, maybe this next feature will.

Rennsport VR Support Coming?

In response to a user on Twitter asking about VR support, the Rennsport social media team may have hinted that the game may indeed at one point get it. They have not announced anything official, so we could be clutching at straws here.

But there is a number of users who swear by virtual reality, many of whom have not given sim racing titles a chance due to not being VR-compatible. So what good would it do to have hinted at it if the title never ends up getting it?

It is hardly concrete, but it does not seem like something they would hint at if they did not intend to follow through.

Enough to get excited about, but it may take a bit more to win back interest in the Rennsport platform. Nevertheless, tune back in on July 10 to find out if the open beta does have the Nordschleife and if or when to expect virtual reality in Rennsport.

Open beta for free with the Nordschleife, what is there not to like, I have had a beta key for a while, not been in Rennsport a lot, as I am 101% VR and 101% offline, so no VR and no AI, is not that appealing to me.
But the game, for what it has to offer, is not bad at all, for someone to find something of interest to do with it.
Good news.

Allow me to be the bringer of somewhat good news. Rennsport when it releases completely will be available on Steam.
Ah maybe so BUT will it be one of these that will still need the epic launcher? I personally have nothing against the epic program as a whole never had any issues with it other than it taking all the bandwidth for downloads if open at the same time as steam.

I'm with most on this though I can't really see where this fits in the sim world. iRacing (no matter if you love it or like me dislike it) has the whole subscription thing nailed down and the player base to go with it. Then you've got the rest of the sims covering pretty much every aspect of car racing possible. And anyone that has played it hasn't really had anything good to say about any of the experience.

No I very much doubt you will need to have the Epic launcher even if you get it on Steam. The Crew Motorfest was initially only available via Ubisoft's own launcher, then it became available on Steam and I don't think it forced anyone to have the Ubisoft launcher.

At most, I could see them making it exclusive to the Epic launcher initially but considering the good faith they need to rebuild with the community, that would only prolong and emphasise the negative perception they have with many people for having the game being locked behind a small amount of keys for so long. So maybe once the game is fully released, it will be on Steam from day 1.

Every sim game now its all about VR its mentioned more by users than anything else. You would think developers would catch on by now and make it a must before any kind of Beta, EA, Release ect... Want the best sim/game keep up with the times, triple screen a must and VR also now widescreen.

Some developers do. Straight4 switched engine(more news coming soon probably) mainly because of VR, Ian wrote that on X. Kunos also seems to have focus on VR with AC Evo, so it seems that all these comments eventually are picked up by at least a part of the dev's. S397 is saying that they take VR very seriously and I expect a good implementation in LMU soon too. We'll see.

It'll be very interesting to see how far they get this title... It's come a long way since I first got a key...

I was never keen on the Unreal engine after every other title on it being a mess on the physics as soon as you start making adjustments to set ups... Probably why they've kept it as a default set up title until this point... Gotta calibrate that stuff correctly or they'll end up with ACC's lack of negative effects from too much toe or a backwards caster assignment...

Still needs a fair bit of work because of Unreal, but it does also hold a lot of potential with the elements not only proposed but implemented to date by the team at Rennsport...
