Nordschleife, GT4 and More Confirmed for Rennsport Open Beta

After spotting what looked to be the Nordschleife in the Rennsport open beta release reveal trailer, the dev team in their latest Radio Check video have confirmed it and way more in time for the July 10 release.

The open beta for Rennsport is finally on the horizon, with it set to arrive on July 10 on the Epic Games Store for free. Competition Company in their latest update video have revealed more details, the headline of which being that the Nordschleife will be arriving with the open beta.

But there is plenty more to it, including a few new cars, another track - albeit a fictional one - and the first long-awaited idea of what will be their payment model.

New Cars

The first big addition alongside the Nordschleife is the rather fittingly named Porsche 911 GT3 R Rennsport, a version of the 911 that is not road legal or even conforms to the regulations of any pre-existing racing category. This trackday weapon only weighs 1,240 kilograms and is powered by a naturally-aspirated 4.2-litre Flat-6 engine, it revs up to 9,400rpm and produces 620 horsepower.

That makes Rennsport the first sim platform to feature this car - which was not named for the platform, in case anyone was wondering about this.

The 911 GT3 R Rennsport's massive wing will surely make it handle like a dream through fast corners.

Next up are some cars that do conform to a pre-existing car category, GT4 to be exact. First up is the BMW M4 GT4 (G82), the same car that sim racers Jimmy Broadbent, Steve 'Super GT' Alvarez Brown and Misha Charoudin were all set to drive in this year's Nürburgring 24 hours.

Also from the GT4 class is the Audi R8 LMS GT4. Meaning now that makes two LMDh cars, two TCR cars, a selection of four GT3 cars and a few more without contemporaries like the Porsche 911 GT3 Cup and Praga R1.

Founder's Pack

Next up is Rennsport's first step into developing their monetisation model, and part of it may come as bad news to those wanting to drive the Nordschleife on Rennsport without parting with any cash.

The 'Founder's Pack' will provide three tiers of paid content, starting with the Gold membership at €19.99 that provides access to the Nordschleife and one free car token for any future content release. One tier up is the Platinum Pack which will cost €39.99 and features the aforementioned 911 GT3 R Rennsport with one additional livery.

Choose from three levels of the Founder's Pack that have different quantities of content.

For the maximum Diamond tier at €69.99, players get an additional 911 GT3 R Rennsport livery and car purchase token. It goes without saying that each higher tier features the content available in the previous tier. If all of that was not already enough of an incentive, maybe this next detail could tempt a few players.

The Nordschleife will not be the only track added to Rennsport, there will be a fictional track called Founder's Track added which takes the shape of the Rennsport logo and set on an island. If you pick up a Founder's Pack, your name will be immortalised on the surface around the circuit.

Want your name on the side of this track? Pick up any tier of the Founder's Pack in Rennsport.

What Else?

Rennsport will introduce a reworked driver progression system, where drivers can earn XP from completing the race, getting the fastest lap, where they finish, the distance driven and how many remaining incident points they have not incurred.

Additionally as hinted at on the Rennsport socials, VR will arrive with the open beta with native support and they are focusing on honing that before they switch their focus over to triple screen implementation. Finally, will Rennsport be available on Steam? The answer is that it will at some point down the line. Also, AI single player racing will eventually be added in the future.

No I very much doubt you will need to have the Epic launcher even if you get it on Steam. The Crew Motorfest was initially only available via Ubisoft's own launcher, then it became available on Steam and I don't think it forced anyone to have the Ubisoft launcher.

At most, I could see them making it exclusive to the Epic launcher initially but considering the good faith they need to rebuild with the community, that would only prolong and emphasise the negative perception they have with many people for having the game being locked behind a small amount of keys for so long. So maybe once the game is fully released, it will be on Steam from day 1.
This is incorrect, every Ubisoft game on Steam requires the Ubisoft launcher, by buying it on Steam all you're doing is linking your Steam account to your Ubisoft account.

Kunos and S397 can balance AI with multiplayer very well, (not to mention great physics) and in case you haven't noticed those 2 studios have sims being developed in 2024, so I'll stick with those, thank you.

If Rennsport at some point prove that AI is not an afterthought then I'll consider it

Each to their own I guess... The bots have to be believable both in terms of physics and race craft for me to enjoy racing with them... Which for me is hard to do outside of the F1 series or older titles... LMU comes close, but they recently porked them giving the Hypercar AI tyre warmers...

For me Kunos with AC and ACC have made Codies look good for their AI so I have little hope that ACE will be an SP title for me outside of hotlapping much like the original... S397 less so, but that's because of the great engine they're working on, they could actually do a lot more with it than what they have over the years... However S397 also spent years with a porked AI in rF2 and didn't bother to revert it to the working AI they got from ISI... So in my opinion both have neglected the SP scene as I as the consumer have to do far too much work to massage it into a good spot in 2024 with their sims...

AI in Rennsport isn't an after thought, it's always been a part of their plans and there's already the options in game for them, just greyed out... They just haven't finished working on the physics so it's far better to get that right before the endless calibrations of AI after each physics advancement takes focus away from the core improvements they need to do before release...

I really appreciate this approach as someone who enjoys both MP and SP racing...

well im looking forwards to it. got a key and it works/looks fine on my mid pc.
sad about current vr situation.
iv long ago stopped listening to the talking heads about how bad a game is.
THEY said the same thing about LMU and thats doing ok so far.

just play what you enjoy and stop trying to spoil other people fun.
god knows there not enough people in this hobby

100%% an old adage is very relevant to sim racing talking heads

"opinions are like buttholes, everyone has one, and the bigger the opinion, the bigger the butthole"

I can be bothered with VR, but I am sad AI has not arrived yet.

I am going to say some things about which I am not completely sure of, but at least justified things. Maybe AC Evo has VR implementation easier than Rennsport, because both AC and ACC, although with different engines, support it. But if I'm not completely wrong, Rennsport is more or less based in Rf2 engine, and we know the problem with RF2 for VR if you look at the back of your car and see nothing there, which is I think the main cause for LMU's Vr absence. Project Cars and RaceRoom fixed the problem, but they were Rf based, more than Rf2 based. I don't think Rf had not the problem, but in some aspects Rf2 is worst than Rf, for example in Rf you could drive the cars using the clutch, not with the standalone game I know, but you could at least; maybe VR was easier also to fix.

Man, i dont think they can make a sim more DOA than they are trying right now...

What a **** show

I am a little confuse, The open beta for Rennsport is finally on the horizon, with it set to arrive on July 10 on the Epic Games Store for free.
It is free, but all the new content, Track and cars, announced with the open beta are not free. Right?
That is ok, but then what is new with the open beta in relation to the latest beta key?

I don't know, maybe it's my poor english but I understood that for 70 euro you get one car released in the future, a Porsche and a couple of liveries?? Wow. I only can say WOW. I hope I'm wrong.

Not far off. The Nordschleife, the Porsche, two additional liveries for it and two tokens to acquire a future car released to Rennsport that you would traditionally have to pay for.

That's a supporters pack with some odd stuff in it... Basically an investment...

It's going to be free to play according to the Rennsport website... With 1 free GT3 car (goodbye ACC) and multiple tracks...

Honestly, I do somewhat understand people's grievances when it comes to the fact that a track as popular as Nords is being used to drive sales. They at least had the decency to make it the lowest tier to get it.

They were always going to find a way to generate revenue, we have had it too good for too long. It's a business at the end of the day.

But the fact it's set to be free to play, I personally find this monetisation method somewhat decent. Relatively speaking. No gaming monetisation model is ever great, we used to live in a time where games were complete on arrival of course.

With that being said, if there's ever going to be a way of introducing new content and making a profit, Rennsport at least will offer a means to get started with the title and provide players a means to race without parting with some cash.

that is completely wrong.
the main power for VR is the graphics engine.
And that is UE, not the same as RF2's graphics engine.
The physics engine of Rennsport is more or less RF2, but that has nothing to do with VR output.
Learn your lesson b4 you post such e wierd nonsens

90% of the comments above are basically irrelevant personal oppions by people who havent tried the game, and are sceptical about every thing. its only just becoming a "beta" but some people speak of it like some final product was already released a year ok. bizarre commentary.
