After previously being in closed beta and exclusively on the Epic Launcher, Rennsport is now available on the Steam store in its open beta form.

With the unconventional approach to the release of Rennsport, for the longest time the sim was a no-go for many due to it only being on the Epic Games Store. But those who have been waiting for its release on Steam to try it out can now do so - Rennsport is lining up next to all your other Steam games.

Competition Company have formally announced on the Rennsport socials that the title is now available on Steam. Launching as a playtest, all you need to do is download and request access to the open beta, and everything already available on the Epic Launcher version of the title will be there.

Is Epic to Steam migration possible?

Yes! If the only reason you had the Epic Launcher downloaded was for Rennsport and you fancy having all your sims on one platform, you can carry your progress over to Steam. Since you need an account to access the title, all you need to do is download Rennsport on Steam and put in your login details.

This includes purchased content like one of the Founders Packs, which, at certain tiers, can give one access to the Nürburgring-Nordschleife and the Porsche 911 GT3 R Rennsport car. Any and all content acquired from the Founders Pack will automatically carry over.

As for those who plan to remain with the Epic Launcher, all the online races will cross over so you can race with those playing the version on the other launcher. Meaning crossplay between Epic and Steam is possible.

Regarding content, the Jeddah Corniche Circuit was announced as being introduced into Rennsport, and was seen in action during the ESL R1 Major last month. It has not been added to the platform yet, and there is no indication that it will arrive with the Steam launch.

Is there something better in this sim than in other racing sims, or is there some other reason why I should buy this?
I had a beta install, and not worried about using Epic... so installed it.

For context, I'm an average racer, not fussy as such, and respect that I have to learn a game's physics & quirks before I enjoy it.

And with that said, it's just unremarkable. That could be a really good thing I suppose. As a free beta, it was a fine and interesting thing to have a go with.

But, GT3 and the tracks it has have been done to death in many/most other sims - and the thing is, all are trying to replicate the same thing, so it has to be unremarkable by design.

So... there's nothing in there that attracts me to the game. It might end up having a really strong online presence, or for a select few aliens, a great opportunity to be champions.

For me though, I'm firmly in the camp of nothing new so not about to purchase another GT3 sim. And in that, I feel for the devs, they've done nothing wrong except enter a saturated market.

I was in the first batch of beta keys when the game came out in beta on the Epic Gamestore.
I occasionally fired it up and each time it felt and looked better. Performance wise this is the first modern racing sim that goes below 100 FPS on my system (running a RTX4080 on 3440x1440), with graphics settings maxed out (Epic). But it does not look better than AMS2, ACC or LMU, but worse. FFB feels ok but not on the same level as LMU, rF2 and ACC.

Not sure what this game adds to my sim racing games collection. Especially since there is no AI yet. At the current state I won’t spend any money on it yet, and also won’t be playing it much.

Yes Kenny !
I think there is nothing wrong with EA DLC as long as the engine improves along the way.
More so when they are small struggling studios.

I hope while LMU still EA they release Lemans European Series and our missing Nascar :)

No matter what anyone thinks of this practice no one is under any obligation so emotion
is little more then sour grapes.

If you want to run all servers or offline combos you got to pay the piper like everyone else.
You ( not you Kenny p ) are not special.

P.S. Kenneth is my Dads and Brothers name R.I.P.
