Summer is still very much present in much of the world. Despite this, several racing titles have seen an influx of players - here are the most played racing games on Steam in August 2024.
Note: While iRacing is available on Steam as well, its numbers are not representative as most players acces the sim through its own UI. As a result, its statistics are not included in this article.
The Steam Summer Sale coupled with the announcement of the game being pulled from online stores in December meant Forza Horizon 4 surged past the competition to claim the top spot in July - a month later, the game is further down the order again, posting numbers that are more comparable to June.
This means that BeamNG.drive is back on top, this time with a sizeable lead compared to second-placed Forza Horizon 5. Sim racers will be delighted to see that despite posting slightly lower numbers than in June, Assetto Corsa keeps chugging along closely behind FH5.
The evergreen sim had reached an all-time high for peak players in June following the first screenshot of Assetto Corsa Evo surfacing, which then was followed by the long-awaited successor's Steam page going live.
Meanwhile, Need For Speed Unbound saw the biggest increase in average players at almost 90%, most likely due to the Volume 8 update that added a throwback to the series' roots with police chases à la Hot Pursuit returning.
