McLaren iRacing fans, rejoice! For no longer do you have to make do with a long-since made redundant MP4-12C GT3, as the 720S GT3 is on its way in time for 2024 Season 4!

The GT3 line-up on iRacing is about to gain yet another member. The Corvette and Ford Mustang GT3 cars having been added in the most recent build, they joined the Ferrari 296 GT3, Mercedes-AMG GT3, Audi R8 LMS EVO II GT3, Lamborghini Huracán GT3 EVO, BMW M4 GT3 and Porsche 992 GT3 R. With the Mustang getting added, the long-since obsolete Ford GT was retired from the GT3 class on iRacing.

But the one car that stuck out like a sore thumb was the McLaren MP4-12C GT3 which had been out of circulation in real life GT3 racing since the mid-2010s. Now though, the 'flamethrower' will finally get its long-deserved retirement as there is a new McLaren GT3 on the way, the 720S GT3 Evo.

Canadian-based IMSA SportsCar Championship team Pfaff Motorsport have been racing the 720S GT3 Evo since the start of 2024 after previously running Porsches. They have enjoyed two second place finishes this season in the GTD Pro category at Laguna Seca and in the 6 Hours of the Glen.

Pfaff were the ones to drop the unmistakable screenshot of the car in an iRacing pre-render image on Twitter. The contents of their tweet - as well as a iRacing themselves retweeting the post - seem to confirm that the car will arrive in time for the start of 2024 Season 4, which puts the release estimate for September 3, the start of the current season's week 13 when all new content is traditionally added to the service.

With the end of 2024 Season 3 getting closer, iRacing will undoubtedly begin to slowly show the cars and tracks being added in time for next season. With the McLaren being on its way, perhaps more cars from IMSA and endurance racing can be expected in the future.

Well regarding the NASCAR, it may have never ran in the real life IMSA series but it ran in a major endurance race so I'd love to see it in the endurance series on iRacing.
It's a simulator, not an arcade.
To do mish mash stuff there's Forza Horizon.

MP4-12C is not racing in real IMSA since years, so is not present in IMSA.
Thankfully it will be taken away soon, in september when the 720S Evo arrives, from the GT Sprint and GT Endurance dedicated GT3 series as well.

So I'm guessing Le Mans 2023 didn't happen then lol. Since that actually had the G56 NASCAR racing in a 24 hour endurance race.

I think that's being a bit too exteme
something can still be a sim at it's core but be used to deliver combinations which haven't and may not be run.
AC is great for this and it can be one of the joys in sim racing
It's just also nice at times ot have things more dedicated to realistic combinations
there are spaces for both and both can coexist.
Just specific cases need to decide what they want to be.
Like the iRacing Daytona 24 tired to mirror the cars of the real event

And again with you,
That was Le Mans not IMSA which is what iRacing has it's endurace based on and who they have the parnership with.

And lets be real for a moment, the NASCAR did not race. It drove in the event but there were no other cars in it's class. It was a non competative outing.

If any sim had a 'reason' to add the Nascar Garage 56 project, it would be LMU. However they have shown zero interest in bringing that car into the sim. Asking for a WEC vehicle in a license based on IMSA is like all those whiners in ACC who wanted the Nordschleiffe.(even though it finally did happen due to SRO signing agreements with the Nords organizers)
