Studio 397 has launched Le Mans Ultimate's first-ever community-based development survey. But there is more in it for players than they might think.

On the 20th of August, Le Mans Ultimate will have been publically released for six months. Whilst it feels like a lifetime ago that we here at OverTake were publishing track guides and reviews, six months is not a long period for development.

Despite the lack of development time, Le Mans Ultimate has managed to create a comprehensive backing of fans as well as quality DLC releases. However, it is not without problems. Stability and DLC pricing, considering the game is still in early access, are two of the main criticisms often thrown at Le Mans Ultimate.

You can fill out the survey here. it should only take around ten minutes and it is a vital feedback tool for the developers.

What is a community survey?

In short, this community survey offers Studio 397 and Motorsport Games an inside look into each individual who plays and enjoys their game. A very select few will rant and rave on X or Reddit about the issues in the game, but a survey such as this one, in the words of poet Ella Wheller Wilcox, gives a voice to the voiceless to some effect.

It may seem like you are just shouting from the crowd demanding change, but the beauty of a survey such as this one is that the developers can read every comment, good and bad. Motorsport Games CEO, Stephen Hood makes it clear in his statement that they want all the feedback they can get.

The development team are keen to further understand the current playing trends, the focus list for remaining issues, as well as what people would like to see in the longer-term future. We have come a long way in six months, and we have more to achieve, but by launching this survey, we want to allow people to be heard further, and collect as much feedback as possible from our player base, those who are on the fence and those who we want to try bring into the title. Every response is important with the team fully appreciative of all views and feedback. The good, bad and ugly! Stephen Hood, Motorsport Games CEO

What is in it for you?

Amongst many things, the obvious answer is directed game development. With such personalised feedback on offer, the team at Studio 397 and Motorsport Games can direct content on the overall opinion of their fanbase. This may impact features and gameplay mechanics implementation order or DLC releases.

There is a lot more on offer outside of helping with the development direction. If you fill out the survey, you will be included in the game credits, and you will be automatically entered into a prize draw to win one of six 2024 DLC Season Passes worth €36.

The survey opens today (August 15, 2024) and will remain open for two weeks. The opinion caster will be closing at 15:00 UTC on Thursday 29 August.

I told them to stop pandering to trolls.

Forget other DLC not based on modern years.
Instead make a separate sim for anything else.
Historical sim should not have same UI as 2024 ( face palm )

All you do by putting everything in one basket is dilute the servers ( shakes head )

Silence is: I bought a game with a lot of promised features 5 months ago and now the company ask me to tell what I want. I want what you promised and the reasons I bought the game. This survey is a joke. I have better things to do in 10 minutes such posting here.

I think it would be interesting to understand what it is that LMU promised to you but didn´t delivered?
Many people have their own experiences and own expectations, so it is always interesting to hear the actual points if you don´t mind me asking :)

"Le Mans Ultimate" without historical content isn't very "Ultimate"...

And given how long a drivers career can be, multiple eras to go through would make it the ultimate sportscar career game as well...

I won't touch this game, until they don't fix the feedback during braking period. Now there is zero feedback of anykind (sound, FFB). And there is plenty of other bugs and missing things, but the devs seems not to much. OK, so be it.
I don't really have high hopes for LMU, and I don't actually care anymore, specially now when AC EVO in on the horyzon. I can say LMU is a disappointment, at least for me. It has been promising so much more, but seems they are only for the money.
you wont get full le mans experience with AC EVO

I think we all discussed all the features they have been talking about that are still missing on the GAME. Right now it's like a beta. Sorry, I'm an old school gamer and this game feels like a beta. They must have a road map with all the features that they said it would be included in the game. That's the target, give me those features and then we'll discuss what extras the game needs. WEC endurance game.

So, what DLC do you want then for 2025? WEC tracks in 2025 are identical to 2024, so there won’t be new tracks. Maybe a few new modern GT3’s and hypercars then?

When I saw the options for historical content in the survey, I was glad they are still considering this, but I think having historical content was already mentioned when they announced LMU. I also see no reason why could not use the current UI.

They were considering European Le Mans and IMSA at least on their survey, so that would give a lot of tracks. Thats DLC I would pay for. Historical circuits and cars I would not pay for (others might though... Survey should tell).

With so few tracks any online platform will die for lack of variation so i think its a must if they want to keep "racecontrol" alive.

I agree with you on UI though its easy to use UI for historical stuff with minor modifications.

Indeed, I forgot they also mentioned these. ELMS would be nice to have, but IMSA is already covered by AMS2. Instead of have 2 of my favorite racing games getting the same cars, I prefer different classes for both.

The amount of ignorance presented by some people on this website allways amazes me. Some of you have zero idea of how all of this works. If they don't ask you what you want or what you think, development isn't transparent enough or they don't care about the "community". On the other hand you have a company proactively making surveys to get information based on scientific data and not some whining on forums to really get an idea what people prioritize to focus development and it's still not right - or useless anyway. What kind of argument is that supposed to be?

Some people should really be stripped off the right to play these games just for the big void that they bring to the table.

Maybe we are ignorant, but you are swimming in a sea of prepotency. Some people just want a game to play, not a beta. And Studio 397 know what the game needs, they shouldn't need a survey. Finish the game with the promised features and then ask people about more content or anything. Sorry for giving my opinion. Maybe you'd like to "strip off the right" to give the opinion too because we are ignorants. Oh dear.

That's not my point. It's been communicated quite clearly that they are working on VR and other features that were mentioned before publishing this survey. To add those features as topics to this survey doesn't tell you anything about how far those features are in development. Leaving them out would have been recieved equaly negative going by some comments here. There is simply no need to interpret a survey for anything else than being a source of information for the developer that can be used to tailor the product towards community requests. To see anything negative in a survey - wich is once again completely voluntary btw - is beyond stupid.

If Kunos or Reiza would have published such a survey, everyone would loose their mind how transparent and close to the community those studios are.

If they are currently working on VR, why on earth do they want to know if the community is interessted in VR?! Same for some other topics. Sounds fishy to me. I wonder what the next update will contain and when it will be dropped.

Sounds fishy to you ... right, that makes it automaticly fishy. Did it come to your mind that you don't slap together a proper survey within five minutes and that setting up somthing like this can take several months of work? All I can say is: take ten mines, nip on your beer or other drink of choice and tell them what you like or not. People allways try to "interprete" stuff just to dig for some dirt and find something negative.
