Automobilista 2: Incoming DLC Will Have Free Trial Period

With the big v1.6 update, plenty of new content is coming to Automobilista 2. Players who are on the fence about the DLC get to try it for free.

Reiza Studios is looking to take another big step forward in Automobilista 2 with version 1.6 - but the update does not just come with improved physics, a new UI, and plenty of other interesting details, but also with a lot of new content. In total, three new tracks and 13 new cars, plus two modified versions of pre-existing ones, are set to launch alongside the update.

That is a lot to play with - and the tracks as well as nine of the cars will come as paid DLC. While the cars will be split into two packs each at €/$9.99, the price for the track pack is not known yet, but previous packs of a similar size such as the Historical Track Pack Pt1, were in a similar price range.

For sim racers who want all the new content, that could mean a not insignificant extra investment in the sim. Keep in mind, however, that you can still race on tracks that you do not own in AMS2 as long as someone else hosts the session they are used in online.

The GT4 version of the Audi R8 LMS will be added to AMS2 for free.

As they did with previous DLC packs, Reiza will release these new packs - the Lamborghini Dream Pack Pt1, the Endurance Pack Pt2 and the track pack - with a free trial period. For the debut of the F-HiTech classes representing the 1992 and 1993 F1 seasons or the Endurance Pack Pt1 featuring the first three Hypercars, this was done already, and Reiza Lead Developer Renato Simioni confirmed that this would be the case again.

Sim racers could look forward to "not quite a week but a couple of days" with the new content to see if they like it enough to buy it. Those who are looking to be able to drive every IMSA-related car, both the Lamborghini and Endurance packs will be necessary - the former contains the SC63 and Huracán GT3 EVO2, the latter comes with the Oreca 07 and Ligier JS P217 LMP2 prototypes as well as the Audi R8 LMS GT3 Evo II and Chevrolet Corvette Z06 GT3.R GTD cars.

Will you be making use of the free trial period, or is the new content for Automobilista 2 v1.6 an automatic buy for you anyway? Let us know in the comments below and join the discussion in our AMS2 forum!

Agree with many here, Reiza is one of the main studios I support for all content regardless of price. They are one of the few that have online AI for dedicated servers which really adds a fun dimension to my small racing group. Looking forward to everything they develop and the tweaks they make to the game as a whole.
Agree, online AI is something that adds so much fun, I don't understand why other sims don't do it, even the latest AC:Evo looks like it won't have it either, its funny in the supposed 'era of AI' it is not in every sim.

Being able to fill out smaller lobbies with AI is so much better, especially since the covid boom of larger lobbies is drying out, so its harder to fill a lot of lobbies now in various sims

I will not give any more money to this bunch
...and I bet the new update is as disappointing as their last "physics revolution".
At the end Renato and his boyz killed it with communication skills. Congratulations!

I ask you, and everyone else, to avoid this kind of comment, please let us deal with it. Thanks
Note, use the report function if you have an issue, that's what it's there for.
The problem is that it has been going on for months or even years and you don't seem to care about it at all, maybe you do, if so excuse me, but it's going on! I understand that we may not like a sim, for my part I like them all to a certain level, but I'm not going to spend my time going to a forum of a sim that I would hate to only say bad things about it, freedom of expression but then it's for everyone, if they have the right to spit their venom and we don't have the right to respond it becomes embarrassing.

According to SteamDB, ACC's older DLC packs have been discounted by 50% to 60% at various points in time.
Intercontinental GT Pack: https://steamdb.info/app/1201360/
GT4 Pack: https://steamdb.info/sub/467683/
British GT: https://steamdb.info/sub/526375/
American Track Pack: https://steamdb.info/sub/671282/ first 30% off, 50% off later on.
Challengers Pack: https://steamdb.info/sub/671276/
There have also been considerable discounts on bundles.
I was going off of deals.gg/isthereanydeal's databases. For example, the Nurburgring pack has never once been discounted to 50% and most of their newer content hasn't been either. AMS2's most recent track Circuit de La Sarthe has been. The track is also cheaper and comes with more layouts than ACC's 24h Nurburgring pack. Other ACC DLCs have only hit 50% or more once since their release and oftentimes only through 3rd party keysellers without the benefits of a direct Steam purchase (like refunds).

Another point of comparison is the launch price and sale prices:
ACC Nurburgring - 12.99 with one layout (Mar 2024 release) - 7.06 Historical Low (Gamesbillet)
AMS2 Nurburgring - 9.99 with 11 layouts including historical ones (2021) - 2.49 Historical Low (Steam)

While less of an extreme example this value proposition/deals still hold when you compare to a more recent AMS2 release:

AMS2 Circuit des 24 Heures du Mans - 9.99 with 2 layouts (one rarely seen in sim) (Jan 2024) - 4.99 Historical Low (Steam)

I'm not going to do data analysis for each individual DLC and type out a report, but if you look at price charting history, overall AMS2's DLC goes on sale more often for steeper discounts and oftentimes has more content. I like both sims, but the numbers don't lie.

It's better to laugh about it, they are pitiful.
I already had, quite a while ago infact....but I could still pretty much guess what nonsense they were spouting when other replied. Then in another thread they infested they finally got a temporary "holiday" from posting, yet disappointingly could still react to post...I just saw one after the other and felt I had to make a comment. At best I'd say they were wind up merchants, at worst....well, I cannot say. ;)

either way the upcoming patch and the new content looks very promising so I'm looking forward to DECENT peoples reactions, positive and negative (as long as the negative is well balanced and not brainless "AMS2 sucks" nonsense.

Then why do some people call LMU to be expensive? I paid 15$ for the whole game.
I was defending the price of LMU on the forums so agree with you, I paid £25 quid and it was well worth it....something Durge Driven never noticed about my posting history.

Please move on, we've asked multiple times now, there's no need to continue this discussion, I've already said we are dealing this it. Talk about AMS2 ;)

I think it's fair to say that many have responded to him, and in some more viciously than necessary, however since mid morning up until your post the discussion has been on topic, which demonstrates that not responding is the best way of dealing with trolls.
I'll repeat, trolling only works if you let it get to you, click the ignore button and relax.

I really don't get why people started using the word "investment" when you simply buy stuff. An investment brings money back, by definition. "I am thinking of investing in a new wheelbase". If you make money out of simracing, that's an investment. Otherwise it's simply a purchase, made if you think the product is worth the money. You're an investor if you buy stock, which can bring an income (if it goes up).
Can't you also invest in your health, in your education, or simply in your fun and happiness as we all do?

Then why do some people call LMU to be expensive? I paid 15$ for the whole game.
Interesting.. Did you buy keys at some of those "stores"? On Steam it costs $38+$13+$13 for the packs or $49.99 for the SP. There haven't been really many sales of those.
So either you are exaggerating or memory doesn't serve you well if you talk about Steam.
As usual price doesn't tell the whole story though: how many cars/tracks are in the game and in those packs for LMU? How many cars and tracks are in AMS2? Unit price tells the truth.

Everyone is free to speak their mind here, that's the point of commenting, but personal attacks from anyone for whatever reason are not tolerated. No one wants to come here to see people with personal beef shouting at each other. Opinions on the topic will always be welcome.
Personal insults, are not in any way allowed here, I think that's pretty understandable.
I wish you all a nice weekend, enjoy some simracing :)
