Automobilista 2: Incoming DLC Will Have Free Trial Period

With the big v1.6 update, plenty of new content is coming to Automobilista 2. Players who are on the fence about the DLC get to try it for free.

Reiza Studios is looking to take another big step forward in Automobilista 2 with version 1.6 - but the update does not just come with improved physics, a new UI, and plenty of other interesting details, but also with a lot of new content. In total, three new tracks and 13 new cars, plus two modified versions of pre-existing ones, are set to launch alongside the update.

That is a lot to play with - and the tracks as well as nine of the cars will come as paid DLC. While the cars will be split into two packs each at €/$9.99, the price for the track pack is not known yet, but previous packs of a similar size such as the Historical Track Pack Pt1, were in a similar price range.

For sim racers who want all the new content, that could mean a not insignificant extra investment in the sim. Keep in mind, however, that you can still race on tracks that you do not own in AMS2 as long as someone else hosts the session they are used in online.

The GT4 version of the Audi R8 LMS will be added to AMS2 for free.

As they did with previous DLC packs, Reiza will release these new packs - the Lamborghini Dream Pack Pt1, the Endurance Pack Pt2 and the track pack - with a free trial period. For the debut of the F-HiTech classes representing the 1992 and 1993 F1 seasons or the Endurance Pack Pt1 featuring the first three Hypercars, this was done already, and Reiza Lead Developer Renato Simioni confirmed that this would be the case again.

Sim racers could look forward to "not quite a week but a couple of days" with the new content to see if they like it enough to buy it. Those who are looking to be able to drive every IMSA-related car, both the Lamborghini and Endurance packs will be necessary - the former contains the SC63 and Huracán GT3 EVO2, the latter comes with the Oreca 07 and Ligier JS P217 LMP2 prototypes as well as the Audi R8 LMS GT3 Evo II and Chevrolet Corvette Z06 GT3.R GTD cars.

Will you be making use of the free trial period, or is the new content for Automobilista 2 v1.6 an automatic buy for you anyway? Let us know in the comments below and join the discussion in our AMS2 forum!

I'm a little bit lost on all the people that want those 2 vocal individuals to be banned permanently and complaining all the time that some threads (yes, mainly AMS2, but sometimes LMU) are "derailed" by people moaning and spreading their negativity.

I really do understand that you don't like it. I really do. But you do have a choice of ignoring them. And in case someone you don't ignore responds to their post you still have a choice of not reacting to their response.

Don't get me wrong, I honestly do understand you're annoyed by people that constantly **** on the same things over and over again. But on the other hand I do value this place (RD/OT) because you actually can express yourself without immediate risk of getting silenced/banned. With several other places over the internet where you actually can't this place and its moderators gets my respect. And I like the fact that they aren't overly zealous wit moderation.

And I say that as a person that had few posts of my own deleted for breaking the rules (as well as reporting other's posts and having them deleted for breaking the rules). I agree with moderators here for not being over the top with moderation.

If you don't like someone's posts, put them on ignore list. Simple as that. Don't force this place to be overly moderated just for the sake of it. We have enough of such places already. And no, I'm not defending Durge or Teddy. I dislike most of the things they have to say most of the times. But I would be the last person to say they don't have the right to do so. I value freedom of speech and I value that you can have it at Race Department (even though I can't accept the fact, that it's not RD anymore). Like I already said, put them on ignore list if you don't want to read them and like @pai said, don't feed the trolls.

Reiza, best dev team ever, plowing further into the worse game engine ever: Madness game engine. Such a shame...

jaysus, cane we just ban that TeddyBearx twonk laughing at every positive post FFS. he/she/it is SUCH a fecking troll in EVERY sense of the word.

Just mute him like I did. You'll still see his likes & laughs etc. though.

Not really, they've managed to produce a great product as a result. And "worst game engine ever" is complete hyperbole. There are some very strong positives to the madness engine..
- incredible VR performance - look at iRacing recently, once they added rain, VR performance tanked completely.
- runs well on lower spec hardware while still looking really good
- deals very well with dirt surfaces
- had a pretty good weather system, which Reiza have only made better
I'm sure there are others but I've only had one coffee. I'm sure there are worse engines out there.

A DLC trial period is a good way to show your nice work. Really fair and transparent. Reiza did that before with Barca and the Endurance Pack. Not necessary for me because I will instabuy. Can't get enough of great AMS2 content.

Shut up, release V1.6 and TAKE MY MONEY!!!!

I really don't get why people started using the word "investment" when you simply buy stuff. An investment brings money back, by definition. "I am thinking of investing in a new wheelbase". If you make money out of simracing, that's an investment. Otherwise it's simply a purchase, made if you think the product is worth the money. You're an investor if you buy stock, which can bring an income (if it goes up).

Same reason why some people are adamant that their video games are called 'simulators'. Some people are just cringe coping sweatlords.

Well it really is like the school playground in this thread.
Teddy can't reply because he's banned from that, I'm shocked that a laughing emoji has garnered such wrath really that's got some of you worked up.
So blame us moderators, despite the advice given many times previously to hit ignore and not to engage with him.
I'm pretty sure he must be pleased that he's managed to derail this discussion without any effort on his part he's probably laughing at how easy it is to trigger some of you.
Do I like constantly having to deal with him, no but a permanent ban seems unnecessarily harsh which I hope on reflection you'll all agree.

I already did, yonks ago, It was just that I came into this thread and it was glaringly obvious that he'd laughed at EVERY single of the first few comments. The blokes deranged IMO and incapable of accepting some people like AMS2.

On topic:
Yes I will be buying the DLC, but as I always do...in a sale.

It's not "just" the laughing emojis....people seem incapable of understanding the context behind the actions of someone doing that who is currently banned from replying, they are literally throwing the middle finger up at the authority of the site IMO, it's not as if the early posts were doing anything other than people expressing their opinions that the DLC will be good value for money and they'll buy it.....think why someone would "laugh" at that and how the brain of that person is functioning (or not I suspect). But that's it I will no longer comment about that individual in any way sense or form.

Looking forward to the IMSA content when I can afford it.

I'll be watching the reactions avidly and if it sounds it really is as good as some have been teasing, then I may even get it full price. Just wish I had more spare time (and didn't like almost every single genre of gaming).
I can totally relate! Alone in simracing there is so much on offer, I sit down in the rig and can't decide what to run 😀
This AMS2 update looks like a winner, can't wait to try it out in VR.

13 cars + 3 tracks = 16 items... Do you know any other developer that gives you top tier content for less than $2?
Also why $140 for the game? If you have paid $140 means you also went into the Paddock Membership in which case you should have all the content
If you only purchased the old Season Pass you had tens of cars and tracks for those $99 not even counting the free content that routinely gets added... Again hard to find lower unit prices...
Then why do some people call LMU to be expensive? I paid 15$ for the whole game.

As a comparison, ACC hasn't put their car or track packs at 50% off...ever and it has a far smaller amount of car types and tracks.
According to SteamDB, ACC's older DLC packs have been discounted by 50% to 60% at various points in time.
Intercontinental GT Pack: https://steamdb.info/app/1201360/
GT4 Pack: https://steamdb.info/sub/467683/
British GT: https://steamdb.info/sub/526375/
American Track Pack: https://steamdb.info/sub/671282/ first 30% off, 50% off later on.
Challengers Pack: https://steamdb.info/sub/671276/
There have also been considerable discounts on bundles.

how did you manage that? I paid £25 for the EA game, and then I ought the season pass, which was around £40 I think ( can't remember ). Not unhappy with that but unless you went to CD Keys ( in which case you are shafting the developer ) I can't see how you get it for that price.
Given the amount I have spent on my rig, I don't see any of the software titles as expensive, except maybe iRenting.
