Automobilista 2: Incoming DLC Will Have Free Trial Period

With the big v1.6 update, plenty of new content is coming to Automobilista 2. Players who are on the fence about the DLC get to try it for free.

Reiza Studios is looking to take another big step forward in Automobilista 2 with version 1.6 - but the update does not just come with improved physics, a new UI, and plenty of other interesting details, but also with a lot of new content. In total, three new tracks and 13 new cars, plus two modified versions of pre-existing ones, are set to launch alongside the update.

That is a lot to play with - and the tracks as well as nine of the cars will come as paid DLC. While the cars will be split into two packs each at €/$9.99, the price for the track pack is not known yet, but previous packs of a similar size such as the Historical Track Pack Pt1, were in a similar price range.

For sim racers who want all the new content, that could mean a not insignificant extra investment in the sim. Keep in mind, however, that you can still race on tracks that you do not own in AMS2 as long as someone else hosts the session they are used in online.

The GT4 version of the Audi R8 LMS will be added to AMS2 for free.

As they did with previous DLC packs, Reiza will release these new packs - the Lamborghini Dream Pack Pt1, the Endurance Pack Pt2 and the track pack - with a free trial period. For the debut of the F-HiTech classes representing the 1992 and 1993 F1 seasons or the Endurance Pack Pt1 featuring the first three Hypercars, this was done already, and Reiza Lead Developer Renato Simioni confirmed that this would be the case again.

Sim racers could look forward to "not quite a week but a couple of days" with the new content to see if they like it enough to buy it. Those who are looking to be able to drive every IMSA-related car, both the Lamborghini and Endurance packs will be necessary - the former contains the SC63 and Huracán GT3 EVO2, the latter comes with the Oreca 07 and Ligier JS P217 LMP2 prototypes as well as the Audi R8 LMS GT3 Evo II and Chevrolet Corvette Z06 GT3.R GTD cars.

Will you be making use of the free trial period, or is the new content for Automobilista 2 v1.6 an automatic buy for you anyway? Let us know in the comments below and join the discussion in our AMS2 forum!

Any AMS2 DLC is a must buy for every sim racer.
Sim has 350-450 players at any given time. The choice to do zero multiplayer, zero competition AKA the only reason racing exists, the choice to do zero single player formed content.... You get this incredible sim with nothing for 99% of people to do in it. Hence 450 people playing it at most.

AMS2 is such a gem and it keeps on giving. Lovely work from a lovely, small and independent studio. What's not to like.

I support them as they are like Jordan F1 - keep punching way above their weight. I hope this version will put them properly on the simracing scene with a respectable player count they deserve.
Did i miss something lol How is more tracks and cars gonna solve anything. There is zero actual content in the game. Just a single player sand box AKA a toy. No campaign to give you a reason to try things. No competitive multiplayer or any MP at all. Not even generic challenges or time trials. Just toys in a box which is why the game has 450 players playing and people think its some giant sim lol

13 cars + 3 tracks = 16 items... Do you know any other developer that gives you top tier content for less than $2?
Also why $140 for the game? If you have paid $140 means you also went into the Paddock Membership in which case you should have all the content
If you only purchased the old Season Pass you had tens of cars and tracks for those $99 not even counting the free content that routinely gets added... Again hard to find lower unit prices...
Now on Steam 109+36 = 145 euros

As I mentioned: game + SP is tens and tens of items (cars and tracks). Those big packs either give you the whole content until 2022 or everything from there onwards once a new bundle is created. The SP occasionally also goes on sale too (usually down to 65-75).
You probably missed the Paddock Access (which basically granted the same but for the future content) but the concept was the same so you would not have to buy separate packs like the DLCs being released these days and still get those tens of cars and tracks.

I'm sure they are working with LowFuel Motorsport to get this added into there online seasons, not sure by when mind, so hopefully there will be a jump in players sooooon......

This is all well and good, but again still no actual release DATE
Still not committing to an actual date, just 'soon' (been saying that since may)

Steamcharts clearly shows that the daily peak is always around 850-1000 players, every single day so it's not "450 playing at most" but around double of that, but yes only at peak moment.

I always manage to find populated servers with 20+ racers in the public lobby when I want to race. So I don't experience the issue. But yes, of course it would be nice if there were even more races to choose from. You're probably in a other region of the world or you only have time to race when other people don't race, so you're unlucky.

Anyway let's hope that 1.6 gives a boost to the game, I can say that it's a game changer; it's next-level again so probably it will boost the player numbers once it's released, I have good hope with that(beta tester here that's why I know, but other than that I cannot say anything more about it).

Over 140 euros to have the game and DLC + 30 of these new releases doesn't seem like a small amount to me.
For goodness sake, the game is nice, but not exactly cheap.
Few users wrote already that this Dlcs look in first moment not cheap (in total amount of 140 Euro) but in my case ive bought some of them on a sale and not every time at release day. And those Dlcs were released over a quite long time period and not at same time.

For example... look at the Dlcs in Train Sim World X.... one Dlc is there most of the time around 30 Euro.
Here in AMS2 we are talking about price between 7 and 19 Euro. The 19 Euro is basically an exception.
So dont really focus at the 140 Euro like you have done it.

Time Trials times have been canceled. Usually a sign that release is not far away...

There are time trials. And there are preset championships you can run . Very few sims give you an actual campaign , so what you sound like you want is forza/gt or iRacing for multiplayer.
Lfm will be supporting ams from 1.6 so that will be a big boost to multiplayer . But for the past few years there have been a number of good leagues running ams2 seasons/championships .
You seem to be very dismissive of this title, because it does not hand you everything on a plate. But I’ve had close to 400 hours of fun so far with this title and I expect many more .

The more people say it's a 'game changer' the more I feel I'm going to be let down if I'm not mind blown by the physics

I ask you, and everyone else, to avoid this kind of comment, please let us deal with it. Thanks
Note, use the report function if you have an issue, that's what it's there for.
Question - How should we report if its because the reactions? Should we report the comment he did it on or how would you have it?

People are free to react how they want in posts I don’t see why we would control that, then we need to remove certain reactions as a choice. If someone posts something off then report that, otherwise just ignore :)

As long as it's being dealt with. The trolling is too much at this point. Not really worth investing in a community in this state.
Everyone here takes it seriously, we all want this to be a place of open discussion and meaningful dialog, but it has it's challenges, no different to anywhere else out there at the moment.

Then you dont see Teddy in every single AMS2 post...
