Originally scheduled for release towards the end of March, the Classic Nürburgring in Automobilista 2 finally has some teaser shots. Is it releasing this weekend?

Last month, Reiza Studios released the final piece of the Historic Track Pack puzzle for Automobilista 2. Alongside a large update came a classic version of Bathurst. With the update also came the promise to release a classic version of the Nürburgring Nordschleife and Sudschleife.

With sudden plans to include the long-forgotten southern layout, Reiza said it would take longer than expected and teased an end-of-March release. That deadline has been and gone, but we finally have news on the upcoming circuit. Recent tweets from the Brazilian developer not only showed screenshots of the historic version of this iconic venue, but also featured a caption.

Reading "This weekend..." the tweet certainly points towards a release for the track before next week.

AMS 2 is increasingly becoming the go-to simulator for historic content. From accurately recreated tracks to a wide array of detailed historic grids, the title has certainly come of age and found its niche.

The historic version of the Nürburgring should align with many other 'time machine' tracks. Set in the year 1971, it sits in the same time period as many other forgotten layouts featuring in the sim. The long version of Spa-Francorchamps, fast variant of Imola and a representation of Monza with its banking in use all sit in the early 1970's.

Automobilista 2 also features a selection of early-1970's F1 cars to run around these vintage tracks. With custom championships available to create, there are huge single player possibilities on the horizon for this upcoming addition to the game.

Are you excited for a classic version of the Nürburgring to join AMS 2?

And scary.
Actually, I'm finding the '71 Ring to be a notably easier drive than the modern iteration. There are so many times that the driver can see so much more of the surrounding landscape in the '71 version; at times, it just feels like the world's greatest Cars & Coffee group drive.

It's still called Nürburgring, not Nurburgring. When do you guys understand that you just cant swap two letters and act like they're the same, just because you don't have them in your alphabet...
Please don't do this, people are not fond of grammar nazis. It is one thing the people that write Micheal refering to Michael, and another to lack a ¨ in writing Nurburgring.

Seriously, in what country Michael is commonly written Micheal?, if you spend some time on the F1 subreddit quite a lot of people write Micheal Schumacher. How on earth can someone mess a name so common in many languages, and write flawlessly a a surname quite a lot less common for non germans.

In the States, there is Michael, short form is Mike. Or Micheal which is the feminine form & pronounced Mishell, short form is Shelly.

And it's Micheál, you English prick. :p
Easily the best AMS2 thread.

I think this discussion doesn't have anything to do with being a grammar nazi or not. As you can see on the news image there are other location names like Südschleife or Köln. People would go nuts if there was written Sudschleife or Koln on the signs. I usualy write Nurburgring myself because I know that the majority of people doesn't have the letter on their keyboard, but for the UI or game art or similar stuff I think it doesn't cost too much effort to add a proper localization to the game. Even games from the early 2000s did that and "it caused issues so it was removed" can't be a valid explaination in 2023. And this isn't just about umlauts. I am from Germany myself but it drives me nuts when I see a map of the Czech Republic and there is a wild mix of Czech and German city names. It mostly depends on the context and in that regard I find some reactions about the guy complaining about the spelling of Nürburgring a bit harsh. In a forum post I see it as less of an issue compared to a game menu. And I think he has a point when he demands a bit of respect for the heritage and history of the track. I don't write Silberstein, because it makes it easier for me to comprehend.

All this discussion about misspelled words and missing umlauts is underlying two universal truths: people make mistakes, and others judge them for it. While we cannot escape our tendency to evaluate and judge (that’s baked into us whether you ask a theologian or a neuroscientist), each of us ought to try punishing offenders with a bit of grace rather than a smattering of knee-jerk criticism.

rF2 had tons(or is that tonnes?) of online issue with folks that had umlats & such in their names. If the server was using the King's English .dic file then those characters weren't recognized. So sometimes you HAD to misspell names.

Well, I may or may not be other kind of prick, but not an English one :p. I use english language because it is the lingua franca internationally, I much rather speak the official language of my country or the dialect from my region, but such is life.

That said, I still have unresolved my doubt. Micheál in my mind sounds kinda french, but I still don't know where that comes from. The thing is that in that subreddit I have never seen anybody write that name with tilde as you answered me.

Motörhead - Overkill
Did a couple of laps with the classic corvette and i have to say i can't imagine how scary this track must have been back in those years. There is nowhere a safe place to make a mistake. And i totally forgot how dangerous the curbs are. Only the two carrousels seem smoother compared to the newer versions.

As a german "grammar nazi" i would say that Umlaute and historic correct spelling of names in german have nothing to do with grammar. Punctuation, subordinate clauses etc. is grammar.

Super excited to run this with all manner of vehicles. Definitely need my obligatory singleplayer GT1/GTE/F3/German Classics/Porsche Cup/etc rounds.

Just a heads-up for anyone not already following the recent AMS2 car mod creators, but the latest post from Didouc stated that he has completed all the work for the Group 5 mod pack and is just waiting for the next Reiza update to land so he can release his cars with the updated bootfiles.

That means we should have fresh batch of 1970-1980's German motorsport monsters to take for a spin around the new (old) Nürburgring historic layouts:
