This is a skin and optional data replacement for the 289 Shelby mod by Legion. Legion's 289 Cobra can be downloaded from here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1ZCzRg_fHI-Q3HsCB5ySZap34VvDOXi-a/view
This "Snake Eyes Cobra" (CSX 2201) was driven by Martin Brundle and Bobby Verdon-Roe in the Royal Automobile Club TT Celebration at the 2021 Goodwood Revival meeting. The car turned heads with its aggressive livery and finished an impressive 5th in its first outing.
2K, 4K and 8K versions are provided. Custom Shaders Patch is required to see the skin as intended.
Fog lights and a lot of other stuff are automatically removed from Legion's original model with an ext_config.ini in the skin folder to bring the car closer to historical GT specs. Unfortunately, this is only visible on track, not in the showroom. So please note that the car will look odd in CM Showroom and showroom-generated previews will likely have 'four eyes' (headlights plus fog lights).
To get around this limitation, I've included an optional .kn5 that can be used to generate your own previews if you want them. Instructions are in the download.
I've also included an optional data folder that brings the car a little closer to modern historical racing spec (a bit lighter, bit more power and a bit more grip) providing a better balance of power with Velo's Jaguar E-type Lightweight and some other RAC TT Celebration-suitable cars.
To install the skin, just copy your preferred version (low resolution 2K, higher resolution 4K or show-off resolution 8K) in its entirety to your Assetto Corsa directory. Please read the instructions carefully for optional bits.
Some artistic license has been used in adapting the skin to suit the only decent hardtop Cobra I could find, but I guess the same can be said for the owners of CSX2201 when they attempted to recreate the 1965 livery for this chassis.
If you missed the 2021 race and want to see the car in action, you can catch a replay here:
For more Goodwood skins, check out GT3RSAss's excellent Goodwood skin pack Cobra/ E-Type/ 250 GTO here and E-Type pack here. Also my version of Adrian Newey's 1963 Lightweight E-Type here.
The superb Goodwood circuit by Mantasisg is available here.
If you really want your hair blown back, grab Scibsound's Ford GT40 sound mod from Race Department and apply it to the Cobra (use Content Manager or do it manually). Phwoarrr!
Now go and enjoy racing the coolest car at the 2021 Goodwood Revival.
