This update includes individual rain textures for all original SimBin vehicles and classes + addons. Also included are the Ford GT40 league, Ford Capri league, Volvo 240Turbo league, and the complete AL Super Touring Seasons by AndreasFSC.
This means that the windshield wipers always work in the correct position and the quality of the rain textures always remains the same (correct size, no blur). Too many factors make a -one for all- texture almost impossible (size and number of windshield wipers, left steering wheel, right steering wheel, field of view of the windshields... ).
In the "YourMods" folder there are textures that you can use for your own car mods. The Readme.txt explains where they belong.
This download is 101 MB in size. The unzipped size is 2.65 GB.
This is the HD version of the Realistic Windscreen & Helmets Effect mod with completely new textures and files. Don't worry, this mod also works with lower resolutions. An extra version for -Super Touring Seasons by AndreasFSC- is also included.
The installation works as always: unzip the file and copy the Gamedata folder into the Race07 folder. If Windows asks whether to overwrite, click yes.
The extras
----------
The extra version for -Super Touring Seasons- is already in the Gamedata folder. Nothing is changed in -Super Touring Seasons-, just added.
Sometimes you come across a car that shows the rain texture too big or too small. This is not due to the mod itself, but rather to the 3d parameters of the windscreens that were used by the modelers.
Example 1: The original SimBin WTCC_2006 Seat Leon shows rain textures always too small. Open the "If displayed to small" folder and copy the two files it contains into the Seat Leon folder (Gamedata/Teams/WTCC_2006/Seat Leon Teams). From now on all WTCC2006 Seat Leon's use their own correct rain texture.
Example 2: The original SimBin GT_Sport BMW_M3_GTR shows the rain texture always too big. Open the "If displayed to big" folder and copy the two files it contains into the BMW M3 GTR folder (Gamedata/Teams/GT_Sport/BMW_M3_GTR). From now on all GTSport BMW M3 GTR's use their own correct rain texture.
As shown in these two examples, every car that displays a wrong rain texture size, can be corrected individually.
The raindrops on the windscreen now have some spots of dirt. This makes everything appear less evenly covered with droplets. A nice side effect is that the slope of the windscreen is a bit more visible.
The floating raindrops are now more numerous and move more slowly. A texture that matches the droplets on the windscreen is also included.
Since I no longer saved the textures in bc2 or bc3 format, all files are equally compatible with all screen modes. One for All
Nothing has changed since the last update. I just added another screenmode because someone asked for it.
-Completely new and double-sized Rainspray Texture for Windscreens (this made real transparency possible). It should now look good on tinted and untinted Windsreens and brighter Tracks like Marrakech.
-The Texture for Helmet Visors is now brighter and more transparent.
New texture and frequency for visors.
Depending on how bright the surroundings are, the effect varies from more rainy foggy to more dirty. I recommend Curitiba 10 and Monza 10 for testing.
- Slightly brighter SE_RAINSPRAY_01 Texture (this avoid some of the dark grey Droplets on the upper Windscreen)
- 15x higher Frequency for Droplets falling on Windscreen (Wiper now have a lot of work to do)
- 3x higher Frequency of changing Droplets on the whole Windscreen
- Similar changes for Helmets
- Helmets now use their own Texture (SE_RAINSPRAY_02)
(make a backup of "specialfx.tec" in gamedata/Locations, and "SE_RAINSPRAY_01.dds" in gamedata/teams)
Realistic Windscreen Effect for Race07 / Evo
- New SE_RAINSPRAY_01 Texture
- 4x Frequency for Droplets falling on Windscreen
- More Size Variation for Droplets
3 Files for Different Screenmodes (1270x720 - 1600x900 - 1920x1080)
