i don't know how i never left a review of this over all the years of owning it and being part of the first wave to pick up the paid update as soon as it dropped, but this is deserving of a 10 out of 5 star rating for the detail put into it.

there's probably only 2 other free roam tracks with attention to detail such as this- not to pupu on the folks with real race tracks with 8k textures and whatnot but they don't hold a candle to blind corners on an actual road at night or day with oncoming traffic and the heart pounding experience if you're going to go off the cliffside or make the cut.. plus people seem to get a little mad when you prefer to slide every corner on an actual race track.. i'm not a time chaser, i chase fun ;)

How do I make the cars in the map start moving, its just waiting in the pits. When I use the pursuit version of the map, no AI is on the roads or anything.

I don't know, why i did not write a review a tiny bit earlier, but i started my journey with LA Canyons with version 0.3 which i saw in the stream of a friend of mine. We then trained every evening to not fall off the road into the deep void - because there were no guardrails yet. There was just the plain road with one texture, some simple mountains to our right of the main loop and to our left the mighty and deadly abyss :D Hence we were lucky when our group stayed together for more than five corners. But right from the start there was this exitement and the fascination you get from an open world. And here we had what could become the master of all maps for our favorite sim. And so from week to week we got the hang of it and one day we managed to get around the whole 42km loop without everyone falling down. After years of hard work and dedication this map truly had become the master of all open world driving maps - at least to me and a bunch of people that meet up there still every night - to hang out, cruise, race, drift, crash and laugh - to laugh a forkin lot over those stupid moments driving like maniacs. What an incredible piece of art this map has become. And if you think about missing out with those extra roads in the Gold or Platinum paid content ... yes you do miss out! Get these extra 72km of wonderful, windy roads, hillclimbs and stunning vistas. You'll love them! Thank you, Phoenix, for making dreams a virtual reality !!

Read the 'INSTALL GUIDE' included in the zip. It's worked for 500,000+ people so you've gone wrong somewhere!

this is my favorite map, you've done a great job! when I get home, I just start Assetto corsa and drive on this map. Thank you for creating this masterpiece !

One of the best mods out there and for me personally, the best road to have a relaxing cruise and send it hard whenever I want.

Or alternatively, there is a free traffic version on here (the AI will overtake and have headons though, f you use traffic planner app, I hear someone has made a line for it, again on here... have a search!

Or if you prefer, jump on a 'Cruisin USA' server if you want to race your friends through traffic online. Choices!

I've never reviewed anything here on RaceDepartment, or any other site for that matter. I felt that this map needed a review. I bought the premium off of your website and damn was it worth it. This map makes any car amazing to drive, drift, race, or cruise. The detail, textures, small backroads, turnouts, and views are amazing. I got the paid rain mods and they're tons of fun with this map. The map has the perfect balance of small windy roads, 2-4 lane roads/highways, and even neighborhood roads. I've always wanted to visit California. This satisfies that urge. Even though I don't have my license or permit, I can still drive around California with a Ferrari in Assetto. For anyone that's on the fence about maybe buying the premium bundle, It's 100% worth the money.

After seeing videos online, I felt like this deserved my support. I purchased the Platinum VIP package (and you should, too) but every time I try to launch it in single player, I get the error message: "AC ran into critical error: CANNOT HAVE 0 CARS IN RACE.IN!"

I assume I did something incorrectly, but I can't find anything about this error anywhere. Can anybody help?

Thanks, the "CANNOT HAVE 0 CARS IN RACE.IN!" means the main track wasn't installed properly. Either that or you didn't select some AI opponents.

Very good track however i am having issues using any of the layouts labelled as 'VIP', whenever i try to load into one of these a crash prompt comes up saying 'CANNOT HAVE 0 CARS IN RACE.INI'. Not sure if i need to pay for these or if they only work in servers or something, I've tried a few things but with no success.

Ever since i became disabled, i had to sell my beloved Beetle. Last year i bought myself a gaming PC as a present, just to recreate certain races from the 80's and onwards, with the accurate liveries on the cars in Assetto Corsa. My experience with PC's are close to zero but downloading and setting up mods and things like CSP and Sol were pretty straightforward.
Then i ran into a standard Beetle mod, downloaded it immediately. Yesterday i accidentally stumbled upon your track, and since that's one of the places i've always wanted to visit, i downloaded and installed it. Took my Beetle for a ride in LA Canyons and i can hardly describe the feeling i got from the virtual experience! It's amazing!
Now for the naughty part; since i also was trying to figure out how to stream with OBS, and if my PC could handle that, i took the first drive live on YouTube in my enthusiasm before i read the "Please note" disclaimer.
So if you would grant me the permission, i'd very much appreciate it. If you want me to take it down, i respect that and will do so (monetization is disabled).
To add another compliment; one of my subscribers, who lives in that area, wrote a great comment on how realistic it all looks and recognised some parts!
I'll go check out the Platinum version and try to figure out how to add some traffic :)
Conclusion: A must have! Download/install it, take your favourite car, put some music on and just drive!

Thanks a lot for your awesome review dude! Sorry you had to sell your Beetle, but it makes me happy to hear my (and Benobro's) work helped you get back in a virtual Beetle for an amazing experience. As a modder, hearing that is about as good as it gets!

After I moved to the LA area 20+ years ago, I bought myself a new 2004 Mini Cooper S. This car was heavily modified to run in these very canyons..
You have done an amazing job of capturing the fun of driving through those hills.

I have not been up into this area for years due to high fuel costs and forest fires...

Thank you for letting me go there again..
