F1 2026 Car
With the new engine regulations coming in for 2026, the action on track is bound to get far tighter with a lower cost and complexity in engine manufacturing which is one of the factors which helped Audi and Porsche to decide to enter the sport. With an increased power output from the MGU-K, the ICE will only need to output a total power of 550hp to get up to the magical 1000hp total power. The reduction in ICE power means that racing will be even closer, however lap times significantly decreased in race trim as opposed to quali trim with the full 1000hp.
In 2026, the MGU-K's total power output is nearly 3 TIMES the original output from 120kW [160hp] to 350kW [~470hp]! This increased power comes with the benefits of 4x more recovery from regenerative braking and 3x more power delivered from the MGU-K. On the other hand, with the removal of the MGU-H, energy is depleted even faster at around 2x the original rate of the previous generation of power unit. Due to the removal of the MGU-H, turbo lag returns as the one of the other jobs of the MGU-H was to counteract the effect of turbo lag however it will be very minimal in practice but more skill will be needed to keep the cars under control on the track.
With less power coming from the ICE thanks to the increased power from the MGU-K, the fuel used will be significantly less in the current 2026 cars. Due to this, fuel consumption will be at least 25% less than the previous engines as the fuel is reduced from 100kg to just 70kg.
With the removal of the MGU-H, multiple variables in the car's weight will change in response to this change. Firstly, the weight of the MGU-H will be totally removed, so a minimum of 45kg will be taken out of the original weight of the previous chassis. In addition, the smaller form factor of the cars will reduce the total chassis weight by an additional 30kg, however it is based on how well teams are able to adapt to the new style of car. Lastly, the lower amount of fuel needed in the cars will reduce the total weight by another 30kg to allow the 2026 F1 cars to weigh at least 105kg less than the previous era of Formula 1 cars.

F1 2026 Teams
Mercedes-AMG Formula 1 Team
After losing Petronas as their main sponsor in 2025, Mercedes lost a significant portion of their revenue and so sacrificed performance for financial stability. Due to this, they called upon their Formula E sponsor, Vestas, to provide some financial aid to the team. Mercedes are set for a more tricky season than some of their past ones as they start a new journey with their new sponsor.
Porsche Red Bull Racing
With the Volkswagen Group's interest in joining the sport, they look to sponsor a team with one of their subsidiaries, Porsche. Not quite ready for a fully fledged team yet due to their WEC commitments with Penske, Porsche became the title sponsor for Red Bull Racing and started what would be the legacy for Porsche's success in Formula 1.
Scuderia Ferrari
Being the most successful team to date, Ferrari are once again looking for podiums and wins however this might be a more difficult season as McLaren are looking competitive against the Prancing Horse. Audi Sauber also looks strong with a similarly fast car due to their strong lineup and stake from Audi. After a blistering FP1 session debut at COTA in 2022 where he topped the session, Robert convinced Ferrari to sign him for 2026 and so replaced Carlos Sainz for the season!
Renault Sport Formula 1 Team
Renault has a full French lineup in 2026. After being drafted into the team in 2023, Pierre Gasly is finally out of the Red Bull family and can now fight against his fellow countryman, Esteban Ocon. The pairing is fast, however Renault has lost some performance after losing Otmar Szafnauer and thus BWT at the end of the 2024 season.
Vodafone McLaren Formula 1 Team
One of the most legendary sponsor and car pairings returns as Santander purchases a majority stake in McLaren and bring back the loved livery. After securing Oscar Piastri for 2023 after a dispute with Alpine, the pairing of Lando and Oscar has looked unstoppable, and after Lando's first win during the 2023 Las Vegas GP they have begun to increase their pace deficit to the top teams and now have the 2nd best car on the grid behind Porsche Red Bull Racing.
Audi Formula 1 Team
After announcing they will be an engine supplier during the 2022 Belgian GP, Audi was hungry for more and, unlike Porsche, purchased a majority stake in Sauber after they lost Alfa Romeo in 2023. The brilliant engineers at Sauber and Audi along with the lineup of Theo Pourchaire from their junior programme and Nico Hulkenburg has made Audi equally as strong as Ferrari and are now fighting for podiums with McLaren and Porsche Red Bull.
Gainbridge Andretti Formula 1 Team
After years of rumours from the paddock, Andretti finally enter Formula 1 however taking over their fellow American partner, Haas, in the process. In addition to the team, Andretti also brought in Indycar star Colton Herta to race alongside Kevin Magnussen in a strong driver lineup with the new American outfit.
Scuderia Toro Rosso
After Red Bull found out that AlphaTauri clothing sales had not gone up since changing Toro Rosso to AlphaTauri, the Italian team once again revert to their previous selves and again run the stunning metallic livery. Yuki Tsunoda stays with the team after performing brilliantly up to this point and is joined by the arrival of India's next Formula 1 driver, Jehan Daruvala.
Aston Martin Aramco Formula 1 Team
Lawrence Stroll is still at the helm of the British outfit, which means that Lance Stroll still drives for the team however did not have that bad of a 2025 season compared to his teammate. His teammate in fact for 2026 is Felipe Drugovich. After winning the 2022 Formula 2 championship in fine style at Monza, Felipe sat on the sidelines for 2023 as Fernando Alonso took the seat for the season. However, Fernando soon realised that he did not want his legacy to be stuck with a struggling Aston Martin, so cut his contract early and allowing Felipe to take the second seat and has since performed well against Lance since 2024. Cognizant had left the team at the end of the 2024 season, and so Aramco stepped up to take title sponsor for Aston Martin!
Van Amersfoort Formula 1 Team
During the summer break in 2025, Van Amersfoort announced that it would be joining Formula 1 as a team in 2026 but would purchase a majority stake in the Williams team and thus rename and rebrand the British outfit. Van Amersfoort wants to stay in F1 for the foreseeable future, so moved their headquarters and factory from Grove in the UK to their main facility in Zeewolde in the Netherlands and taking over the ConDoor building opposite for sufficient space to set up their Formula 1 operations.

F1 2026 Sponsors
After parting ways with Mercedes at the end of 2025, Petronas becomes Formula 1's global integrated energy and chemicals company replacing Aramco after discovering the company's practices. The iconic turquoise and white colour scheme will not be a part of every track and will become the sponsor name of race weekends.
When Audi and Porsche entered the sport, they bought one of the best tyre manufacturers with them, Michelin! Michelin are now the face of Formula 1 with their branding being seen all over the circuits and now even manufacture the tyres for the sport, with their logo being present on them.
Since entering the major sim-racing market in 2022, Moza has since overtaken Fanatec in market share as of late 2024 and becomes the main F1 eSports hardware partner. Moza has rocketed up the ranks for sim-racing and now their hardware is used throughout the F1 eSports scene and their setups will be mandatory in the 2026 eSports season.
