Well done to uuᴉɟ ɯopuɐɹ and yeeet who each got 1 of their submissions selected to be part of displaying ASE on the Race Department page.
Thanks to everyone who took part. Good little bit of fun as most of Assetto Corsa photography is close ups of cars and it is a shame because the world is unappreciated and that is what I wanted to bring focus to.
I am going away on holiday for a week tomorrow so I wont be on Race Department or Discord till next sunday, so keep the server alive, help each other out and keep submitting any landscape gems you find. Feel free to use the voice chat or set up sessions and races with each other.
Speak to you soon guys
Adam
I am going to do a sort of photography competition as many of you are much better than me. The winning images will be used at the top of my Race Department page and underneath the image I will put a link to any site of your choosing (youtube, instagram etc) that you would like to promote. I will also add them to the #community_favourites channel on my discord with the link included.

I am looking for atmospheric, detailed, landscape styled photography that shows off the lighting and large scale world rendering in the game as shown below with my updated version of the original ASE 1.0 Showcase image.
Details
- Images must be using ASE
- Each participator can upload up to 4 images showcasing 4 times of day (1x Day, 1x Night, 1x Sunrise, 1x Sunset) or any you choose
- Submissions will be in the #competition channel on discord, or in the discussion channel here on Race Department
- You must upload all your images that you are submitting in the same message. For discord, you can do this by right clicking on an image that has already been uploaded to discord, then pasting that link in a message. All your links need to be in the same message so the images show up all together.
- Above the images will be the link you would like to promote
- I will be uploading my next update on Friday next week (16.04.2021) so that is when I will choose from what is available
- After that, the competition will continue and every update I do I will check through new submissions (which everyone can resubmit for the next update) and update the page if there are any new winners.
Hopefully there will be plenty of submissions and come next week we will have a library of images dedicated to Assetto Corsa landscape photography
- Further increased blue hue to reduce green tint in sun-lit areas
- Reduced threshold for day time glare
- Reduced overall bloom luminance
I will begin working on updating ASE to Sol 2.1 soon so it is ready for when it goes live on Race Department hopefully.
Enjoy peeps
Next patch will include moon volumetric light fix.
Nothing more. Just install and keep racing
4.0 OVERVIEW
ASE 4.0 completes the past few weeks of updating to SOL 2.0. Every aspect that I have access too has been worked and re-worked to accomplish my vision for a realistic filter. The filter has been highly optimised to provide the best visual quality with no performance loss compared to other popular filters.
From this point forward, minor fixes will be applied but the wholistic experience will be unaltered. Having had weeks of feedback, I personally feel 4.0 is the best and most requested version of ASE so far. 4.0 brings a year long journey to it's pinnacle and from here I will begin focusing on using ASE 4.0 framework to build other styles and visual experiences which will also be included with every update. This will give you the user, multiple options to try for different scenarios to suit your personal preference.

ASE FORMULA ONBOARD CAMERA
This is a first attempt at creating a filter to be used with "go pro" or "TV" styled cameras, views and replays etc. I am using images and footage of onboard F1 cameras to achieve a filter that replicates the experience the viewer has when watching Formula racing on TV, through the onboard cameras.

Small fixes
- minimal contrast increase
- star visibility reduced from 1st person perspective
- minimal brightness increase to balance contrast increase (preventing shadow information loss)
Major Changes and focus for 3.2
- sun and other lights bloom increase and softening
- sunset and sunrise pass achieving a bright and beautiful day/night and night/day transition
- clouds pass aiming for a soft, white day and night time cloud
- god rays increase and brightened
- warmer tone achieved from sun and white balance
This the final but major piece to the jigsaw puzzle. 3.0 was purely a day time focused pass. 3.1 was a night time focused pass. 3.2 and the past week has been blending those 2 together and going over all the minute details and finishes I can find to provide a full and "complete" filter. With video and CSP presets provided (through 1 click, easy to install links) with 3 different settings focused on performance, up to pure visual focus.
Please feel free to contact me for any personal changes you would like to make to suit your set up and perception. I am attempting to provide the vision I see for a filter, in as balanced a package as possible, for each user to adjust to what suits them. With each user having their own graphical settings, monitor, monitor settings, eyes, brain etc I can provide you the knowledge to quickly and easily make private changes to suit yourself.
After much feedback and more time to test on other tracks, times of day and weather combinations, this update provides more balance visually across the game.
I am now going to keep previous versions in the download package for anyone who prefers 3.0 and in future you will have a good amount of variation and option as to which version you choose so nobody misses out.
Changes
- Slight contrast decrease to make mid day, sunny, clear sky scenarios more pleasing
- Slight saturation decrease for the same reason
- Star visibility decreased for a more natural and less fantastical night sky
- Shadowed areas should now have more visibility and pixel information
- Night times will be slightly lighter and I will update this in the next patch as the contrast changes means I would like to redo night time settings.
Thank you for all the love and support and welcoming me back.
See you on the track
Adam
Hello passionate immersion hunting simulation racers
I originally decided to just post this to my discord server because I could be left with a lot of requests to complete. How ever I have decided to embrace the challenge and the potential ****-fest I might get myself into by posting this on here and see what happens.
So, what is it I am talking about?
Everyone has a different set up, preference and vision but not everyone has the capabilities or time to be able to make their own mod like I have been fortunate enough to be able to do. So, I figure one way I can make ASE stand out even more from the other top filters (not saying mine is, because it is not, but I aspire to reach their popularity one day), is through personal requests so you all get the filter you want. This will be free. No charge. No nothing. Just leave your personal request in the "ase_filter_requests" channel on my discord server https://discord.gg/anCFAzYYWC (or in a review/discussion message on RaceDepartment) with a brief summary of what you would like personally changing and then I will contact you privately for more details if necessary to fulfil your vision.
I hope I can further please you and your experience and enjoyment on Assetto Corsa with this idea.
Have a good weekend
There was an issue occurring from 19:38pm - 4:48:59am which has now been fixed.
Hey guys,
So as you know I have been away for a while and that meant I could not update ASE when the amazing SOL 2.0 released and that left my mod not working properly. After many requests and patience I have spent the past few weeks creating, from scratch, on SOL 2.0.2, my next version of the mod so all you SOL fans and my personal ASE fans no longer have to choose between ASE or SOL 2.0.
As always, I would appreciate any and all feedback, pictures, videos you have to show off or improve ASE further, as I will be continuing as before to improve on the vision for my Filters. So please feel free to join my discord where there is a small community of almost 200 people to show your images and videos off too and I will also be choosing the best to go on the download page for all to see.
Thanks again for the patience and I hope this filter brings you the immersion you desire.
My aim for 2.1
1 piece of constructive criticism that has weighed on my shoulders since leaving 1.2 Complete and starting fresh with 2.0, is the night sky and clouds were not quite as beautiful as in 1.2 Complete. I had a lot of issues with clipping, over saturated clouds in the morning times and a lack of beauty when clouds were present at night.
In the last few weeks I have gone back and forth trying to solve this 1 piece of the puzzle that I failed to achieve, in comparison to 1.2 Complete. I now feel like I have been able to get the best balance between day and night light and colour representation, with clouds on or off, not causing any issues.
2.1 vs 2.0
- brighter moon lit skies
- brighter stars
- brighter clouds, lit by moon
- more colourful clouds in dusk and dawn transitions
- less sky haze/fog during night and day
- reduced sun saturation of world
- increased sky saturation of world
- increased sky brightness during day
- increased sun glow
- increased sun and moon size
- longer godrays from sun
- decreased sky saturation to reduce blue vibrancy directly above player in clear weathers
- increased sky smog to further combat sky over-saturation
- decreased horizon glow to allow for sun and moon light focus
- increased sky anisotropic filtering to include more colour variant into the distance
Slightly increased moon brightness, sky brightness and star brightness for prettier nights. Not as realistic for where I live but it is much nicer to look at.
I also removed my presets because people were not thinking and using them, thinking it was required and then blaming the mod for being performance heavy. So if you want my CM and CSP settings, ask me privately or get them separately on my discord
Only install my presets if you don't understand or have time for the amount of settings within CSP and CM and want a quick preset to select. If you have your own settings and you just want the Sol Enhanced mod, only install the mod. The preset was an extra I added in from many requests for it.
Later on this after noon I will reupload the mod as an individual package. If you want my presets, i will have a link to it on my discord as a separate download.
Thanks
2.0.2 + CM + CSP Video/Graphics Presets
This mod includes the recent 2.0.2 update + presets I have made over the past few months for anyone who is interested in a quick and easy selection, depending on whether you are racing and focused on good FPS, or want all the "EYE CANDY" for your photography sessions. If you already have the latest update, or you do not want to update Sol Enhanced, and stay on the version you are already on, then only use the presets folder.Presets Explained
HIGH - is what I consider the necessary graphics for a good looking game, but in balance with keeping FPS High. All unnecessary features are turned off that you wouldn't really notice in game, if you were racing.
ULTRA - is with most of the good graphical features turned on and kept at an optimal state, so you get all the "eye candy" whilst still keeping up FPS.
EXTREME - is for taking images, videos etc unless you have a powerful PC and can run this in game. FPS is not regarded with this preset. This has every graphical setting turned on and ALL THE WAY UP.
My PC Specifications & Average Preset Performance
GPU - RTX 2060
CPU - Ryzen 3600
RAM - 16GB
HIGH - 100 FPS
ULTRA - 75 FPS
EXTREME - 60 FPS
- Further light balancing between day/night transitions and cloud/sky differentiation
- Slight increase to sky lighting affect on world
- Colour hue minimal increase for less blue tint
Thank you for all the positivity and support. Enjoy.
Changelog
- Updated for 1.6.2 (Mainly changes with cloud and sky)
- Slight reduction in contrast
- Brightness increase at night
- Cloud saturation limit increased (for those beautiful sunsets/sunrises
- Sky saturation increase combined with overall small saturation decrease to keep depth in colour reproduction (Shown in ASE and SolExtra image comparisons below)
Notice how on my ASE_2.0. the headlights have much more depth in detail and colour reproduction compared to SolExtra
Hey guys, got a couple people asking me how to remove the ghost flare that I did not realise was present so I have turned it off.
No other changes made to 1.2 I am sure you are happy to know
_______________________________________Changes in 2.0_______________________________________
Decrease for Sun brightness and bloom
Decrease for Sky brightness and haze
Increase for contrast
Colour correction for perfect white snow (usually it has a blue tint)
Removed Ghost Flare
Increased visual clarity in dark shadowed areas
1.2 has been a real success and I have left that one untouched and completed and in the "History" tab, you can find it if you want to stick with that one.
With the feedback from 1.3a-c I am happy to release 2.0.It is a completely different way of producing the light in the game which I am hoping is going to look better. 2.0 is a separate mod to the well received 1.2 mod. I have had much feedback stating the brightness in the day was too much so I have worked today to balance that and I hope that this is the update to solve those issues and I can start comparing 1.2 and 2.0 to see which method is better for the lighting and colour reproduction in game.
Once I have decided based on the feedback, I will stick with one, and then start moving deeper into settings to expand the mod much further.
I have taken screenshots comparing 1.2 and the new 2.0. You can see the time and weather on the left and it shows which PPfilter is loaded.
What I could not achieve with 1.2 was the perfect colour palette where a tint is not visible and only the sun and sky tint the rest of the world just like in real life. You will notice now a blue tint across 1.2 which is now cleared in 2.0. You will also notice no brightness is lost during the day, but at night I can get a darker contrast which I couldn't in 1.2 without losing sky details.
So in summary, for photorealism and proper colour correction, 2.0 achieves that and the day/night transitions are much more contrasted and pleasing. Where as 1.2 does have the warmer tone and brighter clouds but a more dense atmosphere. Which ever you choose, I hope you thoroughly enjoy your Assetto Corsa experience.
Ill be taking a break now and back soon with an update on where I will take this mod next. In the near future I may upload a few fixes or small changes to little things (i.e 2.1+) if I can get feed back that asks for it.
Thanks for all the help people.
Hey guys,
Thank you for all the feedback, especially the mid day brightness in the current test builds up to 2.0. I have been working all day to improve this. Anyone that would like the current version with the day time changes, to test and report back, id appreciate the extra voices before releasing to public.
For the future, I also want to release less of the small updates, and only update when it is worth it on a larger scale. So I can update specifically for individuals and then you can receive it early, saving me needing to do many little updates that not everyone needs.
Anyone who would like the updated version fixing day time brightness on clear weather, feel free to join my discord and message me how ever you would prefer, and I will send it over to you early.
Other wise, you can always use the older versions.
Thanks again
Adam
