The free update is live today, 7th May 2024, for PC players.

A free update for Assetto Corsa Competizione has arrived that includes the current specification Ford Mustang GT3.

The new car has been entered into multiple GT-racing disciplines this year. The model is participating in the 2024 GT World Challenge Europe (and Endurance Cup) thanks to Proton Competition, pertinent to the official simulation of that championship – ACC.

Elsewhere the same team is running a pair of Mustangs in the FIA World Endurance Championship, with a third entered for next month’s 24 Hours of Le Mans. The manufacturer-backed works team competes in IMSA, with two cars running in its SportsCar Championship.

The model’s world debut was at the 24 Hours of Daytona in January.

It is based upon the road-going S650 generation pony car, co-developed with Multimatic and a raucous 5.4-litre V8 revised for racing by the Cumbrian M-Sport outfit. The distinctive gargle can be heard clearly in the teaser trailer.

Today’s (7th May 2024) platform update adds the car to the simulation for free, provided you are a PC user.

There’s no word yet if the ‘Stang will appear on PlayStation and Xbox consoles just yet – although it is worth noting that every car and track seen on PC has arrived at some point.

It’s also not yet confirmed if this is the final content for Competizione, with Assetto Corsa Evo set for launch later this year.

It follows the release of a paid DLC pack which included the much-vaunted Nürburgring Nordschleife in April, releasing for consoles last week.

Let us know if you’ve driven the new Mustang in Assetto Corsa Competizione in the comments below, or on X: @OverTake_gg.

Nice surprise, can't wait to test the car.
We've got your covered dude :D

ACC Club have scheduled a single make event just for this new beast.

nice, there is life still in the old horse, thanks Kunos. I suppose this is needed if they want to do on-site ACC tournaments like they did in the years before, for the Aston they can use an older model, but the Mustang was not present in any shape.
edit: wondering if they will have the quite dreadful skin which was used at Paul Ricard earlier this season (black and gold? for a Mustang? really?)

I have a built 5.0 Foxbody Convertible and to say I've been waiting excitedly for this to come to ACC since I saw the datamine is an understatement. I've wanted this car so badly in game. I almost called into work sick today. I'm still half tempted to tell my boss I'm taking a half day.

From one Mustang owner to another, i feel your excitement :)

@Eckhart-von-glan "black and gold? for a Mustang? really?" the new Dark Horse variant looks stunning in black and gold if you havent checked it out.

Wow, this is entirely unexpected! Super happy!

It now makes me wonder about other single cars they could add. For example, the second generation BMW M4 GT4 (now made famous by the Bilstein Nurburgring team) or Toyota Supra GT4.

I beg to differ, look at the image I posted: naught on the front? for me, Ford racecars will always be either white with a double blue stripe or blue with a double white stripe, it would look so much better. But, each to their own, I guess.

I totally hear you mate, the blue and white is brilliant and very much a trademark colour for them, but i personally really like black and gold. My mustang is black paint, black wheels, i am tempted in the future to have a set of dull gold wheels, i think it really pings. If i had a spare 65K i would get the Dark Horse and have two Stangs on the driveway :)

Before leaving for work, I took the car for a few laps at Nurburgring GP...
And DAMN!

Hell of an addition!

Just wish I could drive the thing…I’ve yet to complete a lap without spinning off. I find it hard to drive, but it must be me, cause I’ve already seen lap times on NS I can’t get close to on my best days in my favorite cars :p
