Wheel losing feedback mid session

Using a VRS direct drive wheel and it keeps losing connection/feedback at some point throughout a session. Steering connection is maintained, but all force feedback is lost requiring a restart of the game to re-establish resistance.
I have tried multiple USB inputs and deleting/reinstalling usb drivers. Happens regardless of sim (RF2, ACC, AC, etc). About to throw everything away as I’m tired of this ruining sessions so am happy to hear what ideas/solutions You may have!

Got a very similar issue on my DD1, that turned out to be EMI-related. Making sure the USB-cable is kept away from other cables generating strong electromagnetic fields like the power cable could be worth a try.
