Renault Megane
It is a race version of the street vehicle, which includes a tube frame chassis with glass fibre body keeping just visual resemblance to usual mass-production Mégane. The RS Trophy uses the considerably modified Renault Vel Satis V4Y 3.5-litre V6 engine (which is a rebadged VQ35DE of Nissan VQ engine family) rated 330 PS (243 kW; 325 bhp) at 7000 rpm and 390 N·m (290 lb·ft) at 4500 rpm. The engine together with Sadev 6-speed sequential gearbox is placed longitudinally behind the cockpit.

Renaultsport Mégane Trophy is not road legal, but can be bought for € 120,000. It was intended to be used for competition only in the Renault Eurocup, but cars also race in events like the Belgian Touring Car Series and the Dubai 24 Hour with it.

The second generation was shown in the 2008 Paris Motor Show and was used in the Renault Eurocup starting from the 2009 season.

Race Models:
  • 2005–2008 Mégane Trophy: 3.5 L 24-valve V6, 330 PS (240 kW)
  • 2009–present Mégane Trophy II: 3.5 L 24-valve V6, 360 PS (260 kW)

Mid-Ohio

The track opened as a 15-turn, 2.4 mile (3.86 km) road circuit run clockwise. The back portion of the track allows speeds approaching 180 mph (290 km/h). A separate starting line is located on the backstretch to allow for safer rolling starts. The regular start/finish line is located on the pit straight.
In 1990, the track underwent a refurbishment. A new retaining wall was built, the entire track was resurfaced, widened, and concrete was paved in the apexes of the turns to prevent asphalt deterioration. In addition, a straightaway was paved through the chicane, allowing for two different track layouts, the original 2.4-mile (3.9 km) circuit, and a new 13-turn, 2.258 mile (3.634 km) circuit. In 1990, the CART series began utilizing the 2.258-mile (3.634 km) layout.
In 2006, a second major refurbishment saw several improvements. The entire circuit was repaved, and the concrete patches in the turn apexes were removed. A new motorcycle "short course" was created by connecting turn one with the backstretch, and another motocross oval was created by connecting the chicane straight with the backstretch. The additional layouts allow simultaneous use of the multiple course, for instructional and competitive uses. The improvements also included a motocross facility, that has since been closed. There is grandstand seating for 10,000 spectators, and three observation mounds alongside the track raise the capacity to over 75,000.
