For the first time in their history, Schubert Motorsport enters the DTM in light of the series adopting GT3 based specifications. In van der Linde and Eng, Schubert Motorsport has two drivers with a wealth of DTM and GT3 experience in the cockpit. The pair bring BMW's car count in the DTM to a total of 4.

Shell, a sponsor of BMW Motorsport for years will sponsor the M4 GT3 driven by Sheldon van der Linde. Whereas, Philipp Eng will drive with primary sponsorship from RoboMarkets.
