Track Usage and Track Progression?

I'm not sure what these two settings do when I see them on the setup page prior to going to an event. Can anyone help? Thanks!

Track usage : the starting point of marbles, skidmarks, racegroove. Put Max And You will see the road like after 2h of race
Track progression : the speed they appear on the road.
