to all JSGMe user

as a long time JSGMe user (everybody who does not know what it stands for - should ignore this topic) i run more and more in trouble using it effectivly

mainly because of sheer amount of content

the main disadvantages of jsGMe are

1. content are placed inside game directory (which can be worked around with symbolic links)
2. only one content source can be used (what can be also worked around with hundreds of symbolic links)
3. only one instance of JSGMe can work on one directory
4. content needs to be placed direct in mod directory
5. mods are always written into the parent game directory
6. ignorant handling of shadowed/overwritten files

espacially point 1,2 and 4 motivated me to write an alternative
here it is

it does allow to use unlimeted amound of repositories

each repository can have different path target inside the game
for example, track mods can have default target GAMEDATA/LOCATIONS
no need to build dirstructure in all mods

each repository can be placed anywhere on your computer network

repositories can even be shared between several CONTENT managers

the Content Manager handles overwritten files in two strategies
either, overwriten with every new mod, or keeping first occured
when deinstalling a mod, depending on the strategy, the file will reinserted

as a (moving) pictures says more the thousands words, here a video handling my base GTR2 needs

you will find a downlink and support at

please dont try to compare this app with the might thing retrolux build
this is a simple, extract and go thing to streamline the instalation process

Well all the disadvantages JSGME has can be fixed very simply.

Use OVGME instead.

I got permission from both GME authors to include them in any essential mods I wished. So if anyone can't find it send me a PM.

JSGME you only use when you want to isolate GME's to a single location.

If you read my long convoluted thread you will see I Invented, yes Discovered a way to have JSGME list all overwrites from everything.
Through a method of using a complete blank folder template and turning all gmotor sims ( GTR2/rF/GTL/PNG ) into " standalone GME mods that must be installed as first mod.

This then dictates that any overwrites stem back to the orginal sim files
instead of using a link to existing folder/files.
Hard to wrap your head around till you test it.

Even OVGME maker thought this was brilliant if I do say so myself.
It is without doubt the best way to handle GME and overwrite
because the base structure that OVGME must obey is unchanged
by files and extra mods etc etc
IE: It must obey the first GME mod which is GTR2 itself. :geek:
You need to have a FULL blank folder template in place first. :geek:

It is the blank folder that stops all the folder overwrite warnings
That will work for any sim/ game the same.
You can make blank GTR2 template with Beyond compare in a minute.
IT MUST have every single folder from stock sim, no exceptions.

NO ONE from that SUB game ever worked this out
Still boogles me how I ever came up with it.
My 15 minutes of fame lol

This method works in JSGME and OVGME

you can go shopping by feet, with a bike or a station wagon,
even with a truck.

there are still people out there using JSGME for some reason and not using
OVGME

Why the sarcasm !!??? all I do is try to help people !

There are very good reasons that people like myself use both !

I have explained all this many times but I done helping this
place is too upsetting for my health.

How exactly your response was helpful? Did you try Yuca's tool? Did you provide feedback on it? Person tries to create something new, shares it with the community for free and asks for feedback - that's what this thread is about - it's not about what is "recommended" to use instead. No need to stress over internet stuff, it's just not the purpose of this thread.

@Durge Driven
i excuse my self if my answer was to much, it was not intended to be negative, just to point out that i know OVGME and dont use it (for the simple reason it is not simple)

and you are right, OVGME is better then my tool, but my tool wants to be better then JSGME (it might have still bugs - but it already replaced JSGME for me) and as i am a modder i need a fast simple methode to verify why GTR2 or in my case RACE07 does not what i expact it to do

i know and value your input to the "community" from the times i joined NoGrip and i hope you understand that no help was needed here

@The Iron Wolf

as i imagine, our GTR2 || RO7 usage may be similar and usually differ to the standard user, you may understand my motivation behind the tool

Thank you for this and all your mods. I have always found JSGME adequate for my purposes and find it offputting to learn something more complicated, but I'm open to simply implemented improvements, so I've downloaded this and will give it a go.
