Hi all,
With decreasing numbers for the Thursday events, and with the holiday season approaching and other things taking up our time ,we will have a break from racing. Instead I have set up a couple of servers for practice.

Server 5- Currently set up with DTM and GT4 as per John's suggestion. Maybe we can run a mutli class race if there is enough interest.
The track is the superb Gunner version of Sachsenring
The Calibra can be downloaded here Opel Calibra DTM v1.2

Server 6-Currently set up with the excellent Caterham 420R from Ben O'Bro and the Donnington GP circuit.

This is a lightweight RWD car with enough power to make it interesting and provides some great side by side racing.

Download here.

So no pressure of having to sign up for a race, just some relaxed fun testing and hotlapping as we run up to Christmas. If there is enough interest then we can maybe set up a race or two.
There are no passwords so join in when ever you can and see if you can get the fastest time!
Have fun!

Re the Sachsenring - an absolutely terrific circuit, but what a reminder how good the feedback is with the Kunos cars (after driving a lot of mod cars lately), the Maser and Porsche in particular give such amazing feedback. Forgot how good they are!

Love the Caterhams at Donny too, they have a special place in my heart:inlove: ....July '23 was given over an hour track time with this combo (yeh, they did let me on track with a 1970's crash helmet:D)

Unfortunately, only the academy works properly. Next best is the R300 and the worst of the three is the R420. They just do not turn at all plus if you want a shock to your whole rig try winding up the dampers past half way. Car turns into a bucking bronco before it even leaves the pits :cautious:

Hi Steve, thanks for the feedback. I have only ever driven the 420R in default set up and have had fun with it on other platforms with fixed set up, but for the purposes of science and comparison I have now added the other two.

I used to agree with all of that Steve:laugh: :)
...though whilst it doesn't turn in quite as well as irl (which also has understeer on entry), it's a lot closer than I thought it'd be, especially under braking, and from apex to exit. Tbh I think it'd be worse with right foot braking, which I've never really tried with this car.

Can't remember what the Academy is like, will give that a go tonight :)

Edit: Tried the Academy, a lovely car for all abilities (imo) - still the same traits though not as severe. Rule with all of them seems to be; throw it at the apex, no power before that, then nail the exit :ninja:

And there was me thinking I was doing something wrong... Well obviously I am as quickest in the R300! Great fun and one of my favourite circuits. Try the R300 round Castle Combe....

i really like the r420, but for me the car is about perfect trail braking to get the nose to stick on corner entry.
What i am saying is very well judged pedal pressure, alas i am in the ON OFF braking part of the spectrum ;-/. Next problem of this is a car, again careful throttle mid and exit application again i am more your ON and OFF throttle man in that too.
;-/
So i can easily see why some love it to bits and others (me) struggle.
One other thing i did not mention is the reason for the above is its power and weight, there is nothing to dampen these applications, unlike a GT3 car that has momentum and weight.
i also imagine as you move to the much more standard car it becomes a much more sweeter handling car.
just drove both...
Perhaps not,
may be the 9 deg C that is the problem.

It saying i need a bo_caterham_academy car to join?? any ideas
Fairly sure these are the cars Allan (I've 2 versions of each and no idea where the others came from).
