This Is Cool... New V10 R-League Esport Series

Recently a new Esport racing league with a bit of a difference was brought to my attention - and frankly it's that cool, I thought it worth telling you all about.
  • New series using futuristic formula style car.
  • Car developed by popular modding team RSS with help of former McLaren lead designer.
  • Run in partnership with Gfinity and broadcast globally on TV.

Not my usual type of article I must admit, however when this interesting new series was brought to my attention by our friends at Race Sim Studio (RSS), and upon further investigation, I thought it well worth a little time to share with the wider sim racing community.

Developed very much as an alternative to traditional esport activities, the new series is innovative in many ways, not least of which is the introduction of a specially developed high performance open wheel formula car - created with input from Gordon Coppuck no less, the man responsible for the now legendary McLaren M23 that powered Emerson Fittipaldi to Formula One World Championship success in 1974.

Quick Series Facts
  • £100,000 prize pool.
  • 7 tracks within the series.
  • 8 professional esport teams.
  • 84 individual race 'match' events.
  • Next match September 21st
The idea behind the series is to pitch big name teams and drivers into battle against each other, but rather than having a no holes barred race with a grid full of cars, the series has three different format styles.

Head-to-head. Each team will race one another in three short head-to-head races, with the team that takes two wins being declared the victor.

Relay Race. Each driver heads out on track, one at a time, swapping in the pits with a teammate. The fastest team across all three drivers scores the point.

Sprint Race. All six drivers take to the track, with team scores for the round awarded based on positions. The highest score gets the point - but, unlike other rounds, this one can result in a draw,

Wanting to know more about the car and how it came about? This makes for some interesting viewing indeed:

All sounds pretty unique and interesting, and a great achievement for the RSS team to get this new and exciting car involved in such a high profile adventure.

V10 R-League is now live, with broadcast deals worldwide on BT Sport and other TV channels.

Is it just me or are the goofy thumbnails used for YouTube videos a deterrent towards actually watching them?
Esp that Broadbent guy. Had to unsubscribe to his channel because I'm sick of seeing his clickbait.

On topic, I'm wondering if the strange (but pretty cool) format to these races is because of AC's apparent lack of online functionality and features?
I can give no examples, I just recall doing online league races waaaaay back and being put off by how hobbled it seemed.

Yeah Jimmy's style definitely isnt for everyone i think he mainly does it for the comedic value not to mislead anybody on purpose most of his video titles seem to be rather truthful like the jet powered F1 car for example or that time he took despicito to monaco...

Though if you find your recommendation feed getting flooded with his videos i can see why that would be bothersome just mint everywhere :d it would be like if you searched up joe biden content once and all you get is joe biden

I am just glad i am not a pewdiepie fan nor did i ever get into leafyishere *shudders*.

So if I read it correctly, this is only for big name teams and drivers? What I need is a competition(s) for casual sim racers like myself which usually 10-15 sec behind the aliens.

If you are willing to pay a few bucks to support this awesome forum, you can join the club races on here. There are 2-3 Assetto corsa races each week (GT3 every sunday, and then historic cars, one make series etc on monday and wednesday) and then races on several other sims ( AMS2, rf2 etc)
I dont get why this mod isnt released to the public right now, Id be alot more interested in the series if I could relate to the driving and be amazed by how much faster these guys are.
And it wouldnt even matter if free or paid

Paid RSS mod -> a good bit of publicity and happy simracers and some extra money

Free RSS mod -> lots of publicity and even more happy simracers

It wasnt trying to fault you, I read your previous comment about them owning it. I just dont really understand the reasoning behind not releasing it when its most relevant.

Well lets hope they release it fast, Im excited to drive your newest creation. Thanks for being a part of the greatest modding team to ever exist and supplying the community with this great content. Over the course of the last year I bought every single RSS mod and they are all a pleasure to drive.

Yes I dont really want to go into any politics with it or anything and wasnt me who dealt with Gfinity was RSS, I would have imagined releasing it while all the action was on TV and everyone could race along and even have community challenges and stuff like can you beat the pros! ?
even had maybe some kind of rewards idk but I am a daydreamer and like I say thats just my personal opinion I am quite sure they have plans to release it the content. :D

I'm so with you on that Cote Dazur. It's as though an alien mind-virus is progressively sweeping through youtube and replacing all the thumbnails with stupid images of stupid people doing stupid things... and nothing else.

Oh. Did I mention how much more I hate 'reaction' and'unboxing' videos with stupid thumbnails? :poop:

Ive asked the GFinity people if they will release the car to the public, no answer of yet. We start filming season 2 in March so I would expect that they woudn't release until the completion of that season, which is still some time away.

Its quite fun to drive, but not perfect.
