Hi - are the physics and setups of these cars any different to their original counterparts - can't get on with the Reiza mini for example but am hopeless at physic and setup changes and the original Mazda the engine blows very easily though I am a rubbish racer by default...
Hi mate:
The Minis are mostly unchanged, except for a slight mass reduction and the new tyre model (and the semiauto transmission). The Mini can be a nuisance (FWD), so getting that rotation so you aren't understeering into oblivion can be a real rage inducer.
There are some tracks it's much harder to get on with if you can't get the rotation (I had a hell of a time driving it at Campo Grande, for example, in a recent series -- but I had a blast with it at Cascavel, if you can believe it.)
The Lancers are unchanged other than a nontrivial mass reduction (and corresponding power reduction) to ensure it didn't eat tyres too badly -- along with the new tyre and the semiauto transmission. It can be a bit understeery as well and tends to struggle a bit on long straights compared to the other two, but you can really throw it around in the corners.
The Miata -- we did change a few things with the suspension to get it in balance and also keep it under control. Unfortunately, we did this because we didn't realize the ABS wasn't correctly implemented in Reb's original mod. If there were life left in AMS1, I'd go back and start from the original Miata physics (but with correctly-implemented ABS) for the balance -- but even though all of our changes were based on faulty ABS, we still don't feel we've changed the suspension dramatically and so I doubt starting from scratch would really make that much of a difference anyway. The Miata also got the semiauto transmission and the new tyres.
And -- if it helps -- all cars do have downshift protection to go with the semiauto paddle shifters. It's not perfect, but since it's no longer a manual, I think the downshift protection will help you avoid engine explosions (or, at least, reduce the chances as long as you aren't too aggressive on downshifts). All cars have autoblip as well, which may help with avoiding engine explosions.
As for setups -- we tried to keep them as close to default specs as possible -- see the changes files for more information. The Miata got the most adjustments relative to each respective original model.
Good luck, and thank you for the inquiry.
