What is this? Have @Roy Magnes and Pinky gone totally mad? Super Touring at Bathurst?
Usually the Bathurst 1000 has been run with the rules from the most popular touring car championship in Australia, even back when Finnish rally legend Rauno Aaltonen won it as the first foreign driver in 1966. He won the event in a Mini Cooper, but it was a car that was a part of the Aussie championship.
However, in 1997 and 1998, there was a split, and while the V8 Supercars Championship(Or Australian Touring Car Championship) was the most popular, the Bathurst 1000 was run with SuperTouring cars for a couple of years.
The championship later known as V8 Supercars, would also have their own 1000km race at Bathurst, and like IndyCar and CART/ChampCar have done, there are more winners of Bathurst 1000 races than years, as both 1997 and 1998 have the SuperTouring and "V8" winners recognized.

1997 race (with Murray Walker commentating!)

Shortened video of the 1998 race (also including Murray Walker!)

So... we are a bit weird, but we haven't gone totally mad yet. I think.

As we put our clocks forward tomorrow (can sleep for an extra hour), I will say a tentative yes for this. Will confirm later in the week.
We're not changing for another couple of weeks in Europe, but this had me check if I had missed something when planning and typing :p

Happy to have you on the list again, Paul :)

Unfortunetly it pains me that I have to miss this weeks race, going to be in hospital for a routine procedure.
What makes it worse is my new aluminium profile rig is arriving Tuesday so it will be sitting there unassembled. :(
I really like Bathurst and the classic touring cars. never raced Bathurst in RF2 but did a good few laps in Automobilista 2, which has a very good version of Bathurst. The Sierra and maybe the BMW should be quite competative here, with the long straights. Looking forward to seeing the results.
Hopefully I will get a chance to watch your live stream @Roy Magnes.

Are you going to add in a turbo? Didn't know it would be possible, but they perform all kinds of procedures now! :p
Roy has taken the decision to remove the Sierra from this race, so any RWD-lovers would need to use the BMW :)
