SRMZ down

Anyone know what's happened to SRMZ? Offline several days now; isitdown reports server not responding.

There is this problem since last week, I don't know why 2 sites don't work, maybe the server are in Russia? It's the only logic explanation I have now. Or maybe the owners didn't pay the costs.

:O_o:

I just get "taking too long to respond". Isitdown reports "the server is not responding".

Malwarebytes has long said SRMZ is malicious simply because they are not https (it also tells me drivingitalia is malicious for the same reason). For a real treat use Malwarebytes and Brave browser, between them they'll block half the internet.

Hopefully good news, though five days ago - "Bill has been notified of the problem and will get things fixed up".

Don't know what to say about that revelation.

Well because https is encrypted and 99.9% of all sites can use https no problems ?

SMRZ and GPLRANK are the only sites I used to use out of 100's not encrypted.

If you use decent VPN neither site will open unless you pull your pants down and bend over.

No thank you.

Unfortunately the site seems down again.... Yesterday I couldn't reach it either... Anyone knows what's the matter?
Last year they went down for about four days, believe the site owner had some RL issues and neglected to pay the server fees. Now they have been down about two weeks, "isitdown" reports the server not responding. No idea the issue but think it's time they seriously consider a backup site (a mirror for the mirror zone, lol).

Some of the regulars there are also on iracing, though I'm not, so can't contact them.

"If you use decent VPN neither site will open..."
A great hypocrisy in the US - most government agencies use VPNs but will block connections from them.

Sadly everything else - track database, speedgeezers, etc. - is routed through SRMZ.

Hopefully no misfortune has befallen the owner, but several long time members have expressed interest in hosting the site if he had problems.

There are numerous active online leagues, and many of the SRMZ regulars are members, so all contact is not lost yet. There is also a Farcebook page for a French league that hosts several servers. But I've not raced online in years so only get news second hand.

Nice to know, but lighten up on registration.

The forum has nothing to do with me. It's owned by Stefan Roess. I will ask him to remove the six character username restriction.

Thanks! I know Stefan from SRMZ, along with many other names I recognize at the new site, hope many more find it. And hope the old SRMZ forums can be recovered, so much GPL info and trivia there, even if just archived and made available somewhere.

Username length is now reduced to 3 characters. Fancy trying again?

I have 100's of bookmarks no warnings with any other then SMRZ and GPL Rank.
Not a great issue as I have no time for GPL or the majority of sims.
With E Bike trips and new inflatable kayak I have less time for computers all together.

DrivingItalia has no problems here.
