Someone School Me (Us) On Compressing Files Within CM

Ok im insane and somehow have collected over 3600 cars and as we know that takes up some real estate on the old hard drive. So my questions are..

Is it worth compressing the files within Content Manager?
How much space does it save?
Is there any negative aspects to doing so?

- Maybe a lill more loading time, bc files will be decompressed again while loading

Yes, that compression requires running CM.
CM caches game controller device ids
which can (and too often for me do) change
when Windows re-enumerates USB devices,
resulting in loss of controls in game.

Im a controller user so that right there is enough to sway me not to do it.

In theory, controllers with unique USB serial numbers should be OK;
Sadly, none of my sim controllers have unique USB serial numbers,
according to USBDeview

So here is another question say you compress all your cars, but then add a ton more and want to compress those, do you just run it again and it will know which ones are compressed already and which ones aren't?

As far as I know it just enables the Windows disk compression feature on those folders, so if they're already compressed nothing happens.
